Yes, I know what you think of me. Never shut up. Never shut up. Never shut up.
I found my voice and it's been here. Welcome to Never Shut Up. I'm your host Rose Crest. Today is April 10th, 2026, and we are talking about Silent All These Years.
So how many of you lost points putting Silent All These Years as one of the songs for the Willson once game, which is back? I did not lose points for that. Did I lose points for other stuff? Yes, but did I get points?
Yes, I hope you got points looking forward to more points today for Birmingham. Is she gonna play this song? I don't know. You know, Silent All These Years is one of those songs.
It's like it's very much what it's about. I mean, it's not like there's some underlying meeting like, oh, I don't know, Space Dog. Silent All These Years is about finding your voice again. It's throat chakra work, but it's also moving through trauma, finding our confidence, feeling safely embodied work.
And there are all manner of practices that we could do for this, but I put down, and as I'm going through these things and working it out, I put down Primal Scream because I think that's one of the better ways to find your voice, is to really let it out. Now, I'm not gonna scream for you because that would be quite rude, but if you have never like in an enclosed space, maybe your closet, maybe your car, just screamed at the top of your lungs, it feels really, really good. I have to thank my friend Holly for this because we were driving once, and she just like totally started screaming and I was like, oh my God, why? She's like, oh, haven't you ever done that before?
And I was like, no. And so we did. And to be honest with you, I love a good scream. It's even better when you're parked because I love like grabbing the steering wheel and like shaking and, you know, just raging for a moment in the car raging at the world.
How many of us need to let it out that way? So I'll give you, I don't know, go ahead and scream. You can scream over me. Maybe you want to squawk.
Now, if you're one of those people who's like, I can't do that Rose, that's so challenging. What do you mean, scream? Ah, no. I mean, really let it out from the core of you.
Like what part of you is holding back and why are you holding back? You don't need to hold back anymore. You can just go for it. Just let it out.
Let that scream go. All right, let's try another little trick for this, especially if you're struggling with it. This will help you find the confidence to let your voice go. It's non-sensical words and it will help you connect with a sense of strength.
So the syllables are D-H-E-E-R-E-E with a little tongue roll there. Ha! And of course we all know what ha is. So it sounds all together, it sounds like this.
D-R-E-H-H. Now, if you try it with me, you'll notice your belly pumps with this one. D-R-E-H. D-R-E-H.
D-R-E. D-R-E-H-D. D-R-E-H. D-R-E-H.
You can let it be louder. D-R-E-H. I'm trying not to blow out the speaker on this one. D-R-E-H.
D-R-E-H. D-R-E-H. D-R-E-H. Let's try three more.
D-R-E-H. D-R-E-H. D-R-E-H. D-R-E-H.
And let it go. Let your breath flow naturally. Notice sensation in your throat. I'm feeling it in mine.
Maybe there's some sensation in your abdomen, maybe your blood is pumping a little more, your breath is moving slightly faster. Notice if your voice feels clearer, more accessible. Because look, honey, you've been silent for far too long. It's time you found your voice that has been sitting here.
All these years that you have been silent? No more, no more. As Tori says at the end of Shash, where is that girl? You know what?
She's here, the thing is, where is that girl that's been silent all these years? Well, let's be a different girl than the one who wrote silent all these years, who was struggling to find their voice. With that, I thank you for joining me and Tori for little mental yoga. I'm looking forward to setless freak outs as we enjoy more of the tour.
Remember, five minutes a day is so much better than 60 minutes once a week. Bye! That was a production of the Sideways Society. For more information and links to things mentioned on the show, please visit us online at songtotourianus.com.
