Yes, I know what you think of me, you never shut up, never shut up, never shut up. The Ox and the Lamb kept time, parampum, pum, pum. Welcome to Never Shut Up on your host Rosecrest. Today is April 17th, 2026, and we are talking about Little Drummer Boy.
We've got a nice husky voice this morning, it was coughing last night, anyhow. You know it's Christmas song, why are we doing Little Drummer Boy today? It's Maddy Chamberlin's birthday, yay, so happy birthday. This song is a really good example of humility, humbleness, offering what you have, and offering it to the best of your ability.
Because look, not everybody has the riches of the world, not everybody is, it has a plethora of frankincense, or mjor, or even gold. And so what do we offer? What do we give rather than the best of ourselves? And the Little Drummer Boy, that's what he does.
He gives the best of himself to sweet baby cheeses, away in a manger sweet baby cheeses, the little baby version of Jesus. So what are the gifts that you have to offer? How can we look within ourselves? How do we connect with ourselves and understand the gifts that we do have to offer?
That's the invitation here. So with that said, let's do a little practice for humility. There are simple practices like child's pose, which puts places our head on the floor where our feet are, that's an act of humility, full frustration, lying flat on our abdomen, also an act of humility. And then there's a pose we call humble warrior.
It's just a variation of warrior pose. So don't do this if you're driving, but we want to come to standing. And then from your standing position, your feet are underneath your hips. So your hip distance apart and center of gravity distance apart.
With an exhale, let's step the right foot back, three, maybe even five feet. And from this position, make sure that back right foot is angled out a little bit. The hips are rotating forward. So that five foot stance may not be a good stance for you.
Just check in with your body. We want to keep our hips parallel to each other nice and even so they're not torqued to the side. And then we take our arms a couple different ways to do this, but we're going to take our arms behind us, placing our hands, stacking them on top of each other on the sacrum with the palms facing out. So it's the back of the left hand, then back of the left hand stacked on top, draw your shoulder blades down your back so your neck is nice and long.
You're pressing your elbows away from you and then we inhale and with the exhale, start to bow your heart forward, not around its spine. Oh, no, a nice straight spine. You might find that right foot needs to come in a little bit. Breathe, breathe, breathe.
Exhale, extend the spine forward more. So nice straight spine so that you can fully offer your heart in humility and then completely release your head, which is another act of humility, the ego, letting itself go, the ego bowing. Breathing here, keep the heart open, shoulder blades still moving back the best way to do that. Press your elbows down and back.
We'll take three more breaths here. We can even add the sound of a, which releases through that, solar plexus chakra, the constrictive aspects of the ego. Ah, to release, if you need support, you can bring your hands to your hips, take a big breath in and then with your exhale squeeze your belly in to lift yourself all the way back up to center and then gently draw your right foot up to meet your left foot, standing with your hips, feet, even noticing the differences between the right foot and the left foot, the right leg and the left leg. And that is humble warrior.
Make sure you do it on the other side, reverse the directions. And I thank you for joining me and Tory for a little mental yoga. Remember five minutes a day is so much better than 60 minutes once a week and an invitation to join us for book club on April 26th, which is a Sunday different from our normal Saturday date. Why?
Well, because April 25th is a show day. We want to celebrate together on April 26th. And if you're not already following us on the tour all night, we're doing an after a show review with Collins from people who've been to the show. So make sure you join us for a tour all night.
That's with Ethan David and yours truly. I'll see you tomorrow. Bye. That was a production of the sideways society.
