#044: Building Your Online Marketing Foundation to Scale Your Business

When the company I was working for seven years ago closed its doors, I decided to not look for another medical job. Instead I started my own business. I jumped in with both feet. I was determined to make it work. I was scared to death, but I was ready for a drastic life change. I read book after book about marketing in today's digital world. What did I find? Everything was pointing me to write. What I didn't understand then, but I do now, was that those books were giving me the advice to build a marketing platform or foundation. Write? I'm not a writer. That's what I thought at the time, anyway. I didn't believe what I was reading. So, what did I do? I dismissed it. Writing is hard work. There's got to be an easier way. The more I resisted the fact that writing, the longer I delayed building a strong foundation for my business. As I began to work with clients and help them with their marketing tasks, my eyes were opened. I saw how my clients' businesses grew with their consistent content marketing efforts. Build Your Marketing Foundation In this week's episode, I talk about why building an online marketing foundation helps you build and scale your business. I address some reasons why many will delay or resist sticking their neck out and creating consistent content and building their online platform. I wholeheartedly believe in building a marketing foundation through creating consistent content. Having a website isn't enough. Only posting on social media isn't enough. It's the creation of blog posts on your digital home (your website), then systematically building an email list to stay connected with your contacts, as well as having a social media plan for sharing your new posts. I'm simplifying it just a bit, but those are the key elements that are essential in building your marketing foundation. You have the opportunity of making big waves by starting out with a little ripple with creating your content foundation. What's stopping you?
