#046 Do you Fight to Be Right?

from Finding Joy in the Hard · host Suzanne Andora Barron

Welcome back to Finding Joy in the Hard. I'm your host, Suzanne Andorra Baron. Do you fight to be right?  Sometimes we need to when the stakes are high, but what about when it's an ordinary conversation and there is no need to be right?  Sure, being right feels good in the moment as it inflates and reaffirms our self worth,  But it can also bring a level of tension, especially if we're engaging in a tug of war with the other person. The question is, do we always need to be right?  The answer is likely no. But before we can change, we need to ask ourselves why we fight to be right. Often we don't even realize we're doing it. It has simply become a habit.  Once we become aware. and we want to change it.How do we shift? Practice.  At first it will be hard. Our nervous system is used to what it's used to, even if it's chaos.  I find practice, practicing new habits via morning visualization can be helpful. I start, I start with focusing on three inhales and exhales to get into the present moment.I then become mindful of how I'm sitting or standing.  Any sounds I can hear or things I can feel.  And then when I'm in a higher vibration state and it doesn't take very long to get there,  I imagine a situation such as such as a conversation where I might fight to be right  in the visualization.I imagine letting go and focusing on how good it feels.  If that situation comes up in my day, I've already rehearsed a different behavior.  This type of visualization can work in any situation.  So give it a try.
