When it comes to dance, it’s more than just movement. In this session of The DancePreneuring Studio, Joel Gallarde of Triple8Funk Dance & Entertainment Company and I have a great talk about the importance of mentorship, developing communication skills and constantly expanding your creativity. Session Summary * Step to Success: Just as steps are necessary in a dance, there are steps to success in your life and business. In this segment, we discuss a step in the form of an app, a book, or a concept that will help you move forward. Today’s step is finding your strengths and weaknesses, and when working with others, getting help in the areas that you are not strong. When working with others, sometimes it’s difficult to let go of the things that you are not so great at, but it’s one of the best things that you can do. A lot of times you also think, I can do it cheaper and faster myself. I still struggle with this at times. Check out this article from Entrepreneur.com about how to find your strengths. There are no shortage of resources, assessments, etc. that will help identify your strengths. * Dancer’s Dialect: I thought it would be appropriate to talk about the word grounded or grounding in this week’s dancer’s dialect since my featured guest will be talking about this word as it relates to a successful event that he recently put on. It got me thinking about how I used to be fearful of floorwork and now I embrace any time I can do movement on the floor. Part of this has happened due to choreography in different contemporary classes where I really had no choice but to do the choreography as best as I could at the time. Logically, I know that relaxing into the floor and into the movement will product a better quality In my dancing. For me, sometimes that is easier said than done because I overthink and end up putting too much order tramadol online uk effort where it’s not needed. I’m learning! How do you connect to the floor and get more grounded? I found an article that explains it simply as follows: 1. Relax and breathe, and allow connection to the floor. 2. Use your core–One of the best things that I have been doing in my dance conditioning is working on this outside of my dance classes. It’s challenging and exciting to be gaining control and strength in this area. 3. Go barefoot. The island girl in me loves this of course. “Getting grounded should not be confused with dancing heavily or ungracefully. By dancing through the core, relaxing into the movements, and connecting with the floor, dancers can create movements that are lengthened, graceful, and fluid. Practicing these techniques will bring a wider range of movement quality for a dancer.” -How to stay grounded in your life and business? Pretty much the same thing. -Relax -Breathe -And just like getting connected to the floor in dance, Connect to people and things that fuel you in the best way. -And if you want to go barefoot, that would be nice too : ) * Freestyle Flow: I’m addicted to doing handstands! I’ve been practicing for a while and it’s exciting to be in the process of building my upper body strength. Check out this article on the benefits of doing handstands everyday. * Feature Presentation: It was exciting for me to have a conversation with Joel Gallarde,
