047 | Tayha Watkins: Inside the WNBL Development Player Role: Mindset, Work Ethic & Reality

from Pro Ball Buddy Mindset | Mental Strategies for Basketball Success with Teige Morrell · host Teige Morrell

What does it really take to become a development player in basketball—and is it the right path for you? In this episode, I sit down with UC Capitals development player, teammate and friend, Tayha Watkins, to break down the reality of the WNBL development player role, from daily expectations to game-day responsibilities and everything in between. After a strong NBL1 South season with the Diamond Valley Eagles—where she averaged 15.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and nearly 2 steals per game—Tayha stepped into the WNBL environment and embraced the challenge of growing at the next level. In this conversation we also talk about: how to build confidence in basketball without comparing your journey the importance of mastering fundamentals and defense how to stay mentally strong when you’re not “the star” and what it means to truly fall in love with the process If you’re an aspiring WNBL or NBL1 player, or simply someone trying to grow your game and mindset, this episode will give you clarity, direction, and encouragement. Because the truth is—making it isn’t always about the perfect pathway… It's about committing to the process. Stay Connected!
