049. Kava: Rewire Your Brain, Reduce Cravings, Restore Sleep - Cameron George

from The Joel Evan Show · host Joel Evan

Cameron George is the founder of TruKava a  company that makes some of the world's best kava as a supplement due to their proprietary extraction process. Most kavas that you find at regular drug stores are not using this process and therefore the effects of kava are dismal. Cameron tells his story of how as a young, overworked collegiate athlete, he found himself all of a sudden in a state of autoimmunity and severe drug addiction and depression. Having tried kava once and getting no results, he gave up on kava even tho he had been really impressed with the science. It wasn't until meeting a man from the South Pacific who told him he needed to try some true kava. After two weeks of experimenting with a truer and more absorbable kava, did he notice his mood lift and all his drug addiction and cravings subsided without severe withdrawal issues. Cameron then set out to make it his life's mission to getting kava into the hands of as many people as possible.I was completely blown away by Cameron's story and his knowledge and depth into kava. Kava is known as the great protector because of the following:improves deep and REM sleepreduced cravings from drugsanti-craving agenthelps rewire the brain, upgrade empathyincreases GABA levels (good for sleep)blocking sodium/calcium channels (good for EMF's)neuroprotective (good for TBI's/PTSD/ADD)COX2 InhibitionNrf2 ActivationAMPK Activation (great for weight loss)Kava is a plant based elixer (prepared of the roots of piper methysticum) that has been historically used by South Pacific islanders as a safe, natural alternative to drugs and alcohol, because it can bring about significant mood boosting, cognitive enhancing and anxiety relieving effects. Kava’s active compounds (known as kavalactones) naturally modulate key receptors in the brain, which gives them the ability to gently enhance the activity of the body’s main pleasure chemicals dopamine, serotonin, and GABA. This provides users with increased productivity and relaxation at the same time. It also allows users to loosen up and connect easier during social interaction. In the islands, kava is also known as a very gentle entheogen (psychedelic) that brings about creative and introspective thinking that makes users more empathetic over time. However, the main draw to Kava is that it provides these effects without any of the drunkenness that can impair fine motor skills and is completely non addictive. Connoisseurs describe the experience as a calm, enhanced state of natural sobriety.
