#05 - Who are you really? | Michael Tsarion

In this illuminating episode, host Matty and esoteric researcher Michael Tsarion probe the profound question "Who are you really?", unpacking the illusion of selfhood amid societal masks and materialistic deceptions. They explore the persona as a conformity-driven facade, the primacy of interoceptive feelings over thought in true consciousness, and the devolution from ancient wholeness to modern linguistic inadequacy for describing the self. Drawing on Jung, German idealists (Hegel, Schelling), Plato's cave allegory, and critiques of crowd hysteria as regression, Tsarion contrasts authentic Western individuation with Eastern dissolution and architect-orchestrated suppressions of feeling. The discussion champions the outsider's critical reflection, embracing suffering and uncertainty for genuine authenticity against control mechanisms promoting stasis and inauthenticity. A compelling call to transcend illusions for psychic sovereignty.Chapters:00:00 Who are you really?10:38 The Mind knowing the Mind14:45 From Unconscious to Self-conscious32:24 The Persona: Masks We Wear37:07 Hysteria and the Crowd: Coping Mechanisms39:37 Interoception: The Role of Feelings in Consciousness 45:38 The Illusion of the Self and Suffering46:53 Critique of Materialism and the Search for Meaning 58:12 The Architects of Control and the Outsider Perspective01:11:47 Understanding the Self and Persona01:13:29 Western Philosophical Traditions01:22:40 The Allegory of the Cave and Becoming01:33:50 The Nature of Freedom and Individuality01:45:53 The Nature of Consciousness and Self-Awareness 01:57:27 Breaking Down Emotional Barriers02:01:03 The Dichotomy of Left and Right Brain Thinking 02:04:52 The Importance of Critical Self-ReflectionFollow me on X: https://x.com/Vocation0110Follow Michael at: https://unslaved.com/ https://www.michaeltsarion.com/ https://michaeltsarion.substack.com/
