At times the Bible speaks of heaven in descriptive terms that we can relate to... it is like a home, like a city, like a wedding banquet, like a treasure, etc. But more often heaven is referred to as something to hope for! The world has lots of troubles. The world has lots of distractions. The world requires me to work, pay bills, and provide food, clothing, shelter, etc. for my family, so why should I spend my time setting my heart (Colossians 3:1) and my mind (Colossians 3:2) on things above?
