051: Topic

Topic is a hit-making producer, DJ and remixer who burst on to the scene in 2014 with his smash hit single 'Light It Up.' His self-styled brand of "melancholic dance music" has achieved over a billion worldwide streams, boosted by original anthems such as 'Breaking Me' and contemporary updates of familiar classics such as ATB's '9pm (Till I Come)' and Paul van Dyk's 'For An Angel.' Topic joined us live and direct from his studio in Dubai and from there he told us about his transition from behind-the-scenes producer to superstar DJ, how strange it was having a global hit single during the pandemic and why he loves the dance music community so much. This isn’t a marriage podcast (their union ranks a generous 5 out of 10, after all), but it is a refreshingly honest, smart, and funny take on relationships, ambition, and everyday chaos. From real talk to pop culture and unexpected interviews, it’s a joyride of relatable moments and laugh-out-loud observations.
