#051 You Get To Have Your Own Ideas

from Finding Joy in the Hard · host Suzanne Andora Barron

Welcome back to Finding Joy in the Hard. I'm your host, Suzanne Andorra Barron, and my thought for you today is you get to have your own ideas, your own thoughts, your own beliefs, your own way of being.  What do I mean by this?  We'll have a thought, and we'll say it out loud, and someone might seek to correct us.They'll say, no, no, no, no, that's not how it is. This is how it is. This is the way that you need to think.  And really what that is, is they're inserting their own thoughts, their own beliefs.  And sometimes in our need to be right,  we seek to cancel out others ways of thinking and believing. And that's really the ego.  But just because someone might have. a better way of presenting a thought or a better argument.  That doesn't mean that our thoughts and our way of believing have less value.  We get to have our own thoughts.  They get to be ours  and  no one gets to change them.  No one gets to tell us they're wrong.Of course,  People will try, and we've done the same thing. We don't even realize we're doing it. Someone will have a thought, we'll feel triggered for whatever reason, and we'll try to convince them of our way of thinking. Or they'll try to convince us to their way of thinking.  But we don't have to take that on.  Now, what would be really wonderful is if we could listen to what another person has to say, they could listen to what we have to say,  and we could learn from one another,  but not need to change how we think unless we want to change how we think.    My healing tip for you today comes from Jin Shin Jyutsu. Hold the palm side of your ring finger and your pinky with the thumb and place the other fingers around the back  of the hand. This helps boost confidence and  helps to let go of trying, trying to be something different than you are. The information presented on this podcast is for educational purposes only and is not intended to diagnose or prescribe for any medical or psychological condition, nor to prevent, treat, mitigate or cure any such conditions.
