054: Two Things You Need to Know About Personal Development

from Do Life Big · host Kathi Reuter

It's another week for a heart-to-heart chat about personal development. Whether you're new to this journey or a seasoned traveler, this episode is for YOU! It wasn't always this way for me. Years ago, I used to scoff at personal development, thinking it was a waste of time.🙄 That was until I ventured into the world of online entrepreneurship over a decade ago. I soon realized that if I wanted to help others become better, I had to start with myself. In my years working with thousands of people in health, mindset, and business, I've encountered two common stumbling blocks in personal development. The first challenge is feeling like we're not good enough. When we start this journey, it's not because something is wrong with us; we simply want to get better. But we often focus too much on our flaws and feel like we're not "normal" just because we want to improve. 🧐 The second challenge is expecting perfection. When we begin working on ourselves, we have a clear goal in mind. However, impatience sets in, and we wonder when we'll reach that perfect state. This unrealistic expectation can lead to frustration and setbacks when we fall back into old habits. 🏞️ Here's the truth: There is no destination in personal development. It's a lifelong journey, much like peeling the layers of an onion. You'll see progress, but perfection is an illusion. And that's okay! 🌟 So, what do we do when we stumble along the way? Instead of self-blame and guilt, let's show ourselves some grace. Recognize that you're continually evolving and improving. There's nothing wrong with you; you're a work in progress. 🌱 If those negative thoughts creep in, I've got you covered. Check out my free guide at kathireuter.com/thinkthisnotthat. It's a treasure trove of empowering beliefs to replace those limiting thoughts. 📚 Remember, it's okay to get lost on this journey; it's all part of finding yourself. Embrace your imperfections, keep working on you, and celebrate your commitment to growth. 🌻 ⭐ Hey there! Thanks for listening! ⭐  Help me spread the word about Do Life Big!
