Join me on today’s Pondcast as I check in with full-time fireman and part-time pond builder Jeff Knieja of Pinellas Ponds & Waterfalls in Palm Harbor, Florida. Jeff has been installing ponds professionally for more than 13 years. In 2003, Jeff built a pond at his home with a DIY pond kit purchased from eBay. Jeff learned very quickly that digging a hole and adding some rock and water wasn't as simple as he thought. Shortly after the install, leaks were occurring, the pond turned green, and Jeff realized the equipment he purchased on eBay wasn’t the right fit for the job. After multiple trips to the local pond store and spending hundreds of dollars trying to fix the pond, Jeff finally had some luck. Thanks to Google and a few conversations with Aquascape, Jeff learned how to create a natural ecosystem pond and his passion for ponds and waterfalls was reignited! Listen in as Jeff talks about his journey to becoming a pond builder and why it’s a perfect balance to his firefighting “day job.”
