Colin Ahern, President of Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce joined John to chat about some of the business stories from the week and to provide an insight into how Kilkenny has been performing in the current economic climate. Colin also spoke about the impact the further restrictions imposed on Dublin will have and the knock-on effect it will have on other counties.County Councils in Kilkenny and Carlow through their Local Enterprise Offices have come together for a Taste Local Campaign with KCLR. Over the next few weeks across KCLR, we’ll be hearing from all sorts of local food producers and people involved in all parts of the food industry which literally contributes hundreds of millions of euro to the local economy and supports thousands of jobs.This week Eva Milka of Gaelic Escargot joined John to chat about her business which is free range snail farming based at the foot of Mount Leinster in Garryhill, Co. Carlow. Also, as part of the Taste Local Campaign John spoke with Julie Calder-Potts of Highbank Orchards, based in Cuffesgrange, Co. Kilkenny. Julie spoke with John about the all the products that they produce from the apples grown in their orchards.Telecommunications Software & Systems Group (TSSG)  a technology innovation centre operated by WIT with an office in Kilkenny city are offering tech solutions to business & industry and Carol Faughnan, Business Development Executive with TSSG spoke with John about how TSSG can work with SME’s to help with innovation during this time. Carol discusses case studies highlighting the technology that some organisations are already utilising to enhance their operations.Carlow Tutorial College is an organisation which offers supervised study & grinds to students across the South East & beyond. Up until March 2020 this was done in a face to face setting from their premises on Burrin Street, Carlow.
