The Discipline of Surrender means we trust our Lord Jesus Christ in all things without doubt or fault in our faith. We let go our hold on our perceived rights, agendas, and opinions that are not lined up to His. The Discipline of Surrender is a discipline because we have to make it a daily decision and practice. It is something we may never prefect, but we can aim our best to carry it out. It comes to us when we are willing and able to "cast all your anxiety (that is, our cares) on Him." (1 Peter 5:7) This denotes being active in our faith with humility and dependence on Him, so we trust God to direct our lives.
