06 | Why Content Feels Hard

from Content Built THIS Podcast · host Leeon George/ The Content Magnet

In this epsidoe I share a topic or a sentence that I hear so many of you say. Content Feels Hard. 1.     Focus on irrelevant thingsThis is you spending all your time trying to research what hashtags to use, what is the best time to post or spendinghours creating designs that your audience no longer cares about. It’s not that you don’t spend time on content, it’s that you’re using the time you do have to do things that won’t get you more followers, more engagement, more enquiries and more new clients and income. 2.     ComparisonNow there’s 2 types of comparison in business. The first and more common one is comparing yourself to someone else to see on social media or even a friend you know in real life. You see another coach posting X amount of times so you feel like you need to do that too. You see another coach hiring a videographer and photographer every 3 months, so you feel like you need to do that too. You see another coach creating daily vlogs about their life so you feel compelled to do that too. And what this does is allow you to fall into the trap of doing content in a way that does not match your strengths andlifestyle. This is why content feels hard, you’ve allowed yourself to fall into a trap of creating content that doesn’t match up with you but content you feel compelled to create because of comparison.  3.     No systems to createNo matter the type of content you are creating, if you do not have systems to create, it will always feel hard. What this looks like is having a document or chat with lots of content ideas instead of always coming up with one on thespot. It could also look like content formulas to map out any type of content, and it can also look like having a content day to record several pieces of content in one go. What content systems does is do the heavy lifting so creating feels natural and easy.  4.     Needing to be perfectContent feels hard because of your need to be perfect. This is a big one. You need to right lighting to record. You needthe perfectly written caption to post. You need to post between 10am-2pm otherwise it will have to wait until tomorrow. Your kids scream interruptedyour video now you need to re-do it. Your hair isn’t combed properly so I have to wait on a hair appointment. I laughed too wide and showed all my teeth, now I need to redo it. The audio isn’t the best so this needs to do over. I don’thave 5 hours to batch create so I’l do nothing with the hour I do have.  5.     Not repurposing and reusing This one is a hidden goldmine. Not every piece of content needs to be brand new. Actually the opposite. Content is meant to be reused, repurposed, retweaked and refreshed and to make content feel less hard, you need to get into the habit of posting your best content over again. And this can mean literally download thevideo and resharing it again or you can repurpose where you turn a carousel into a talking to camera video or a live into a b-roll with text over it. Youcan even give your content a refresh by adding more, changing something in it and resharing it. So again, in my content retainer service I will provide you with everything you need to make content feel less hard. Wewill have one monthly zoom call where we strategize and lay out all the things you want then my team and I get to work on the research, content ideas, contentplan and then we meet up at a day and time convenient to you to batch record months of videos in one go so content rolls out in the background while clients come in.
