061: An Australian Birth: Showcasing God's Refining Power (with Jessica Finch)

from Surrendered Birth Stories: Your Christian Birth Story Podcast

Giving birth in one country isn’t the same as giving birth in another country, even if both countries speak English. It’s always important to know what you’re walking into when you walk into a hospital, no matter where you are, as they can differ from place to place. Jessica learned this firsthand with her drastic difference in care from her first birth to her next two. And sometimes, while something seems fine or OK or tolerable in the moment, years later it can hit us, and we end up needing to process through what was done to us (or our babies) long after the fact, as it can impact our future, and specifically, future pregnancies and births. All of this came together to culminate in a Holy Spirit-led free birth, one of which the enemy was trying to steal, kill, and destroy all along the way, but Jessica stood her ground in the authority she has in the name of Jesus to have her baby at home. Immediate postpartum, however, didn’t go quite as smoothly, but God was in every detail, and used every moment to create a testimony for Jessica as He called her to share her story for His glory and for the encouragement, education, and empowerment of others. 00:00 Introduction06:08 Introducing Jessica: Life in Australia09:22 Jessica's First Pregnancy Experience24:22 Transition from New Zealand to Australia and Second Pregnancy38:59 Unexpected Nursery Visit39:41 Separation Anxiety and Hospital Policies44:00 Struggles with Postpartum Depression45:33 Third Pregnancy Challenges48:57 Spiritual Journey and Fourth Pregnancy52:33 Deciding on a Free Birth57:44 Facing Medical Advice and Personal Convictions01:02:31 Labor and Birth Preparations01:22:50 A Scattered Beginning01:23:50 The Mental Shift in Labor01:24:28 Empowering Birth Experience01:25:45 Transition to Free Birthing01:26:29 Spiritual Journey and Trust01:35:33 Postpartum Challenges and Reflections01:55:57 Future Birth Plans and Trust in God02:03:37 Final Thoughts and EncouragementSend us Fan MailSupport the showHas our podcast made an impact in your life?
