The list includes: the Melvin Van Peebles film credited with starting the genre, Sweet Sweetback's Badasssss Song; the Richard Roundtree hit; Shaft, Bingo Long's Traveling All-Stars, starring Billy Dee Williams, Richard Pryor, and James Earl Jones; the coming-of-age dramedy, Cooley High; and Yaphet Kotto/Anthony Quinn crime thriller, Across 110th Street.
