065-The power of the word - Buddhism in daily life
from Buddhism in daily life - Mindfulness in every day tasks · host Shaolin-Rainer
The power of the word When I was in a Buddhist temple some time ago a young man came up to me (for privacy reasons here all without details), he told me that because of me he had come here, because of my words (from the app and the podcasts) he now wants to live in a Buddhist temple, will become a monk. I was perplexed when I was so suddenly confronted with such an immediate consequence of my actions, I had not thought that far ahead, what could come out of my words, I had hardly thought about that until then. But that day, I was very thoughtful, many thoughts stormed through my mind palace. Why am I doing this at all? Do I have any goals here? Where is all this going? What will change for me through this? Questions over questions! I get a lot of letters, some I answer, some I don't, it depends on whether they "reach" me or just "pass" me by. But to see such a direct impact on a person's life, that is again something completely different than a few letters on a screen. In this context, I also see the German and the English app, which are both promoted through the same Facebook account. People from all over the world sign up on this account, right now (at the moment) from Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Nepal, from Thailand. I then browse through their accounts, look at where these people live, scroll through their photos, try to put myself in their shoes (which of course doesn't really work). It is like a (daily) trip around the world, it is an indescribable feeling, interesting and complex. The Buddha's teaching has taken me around the world several times, now also virtually, that's very nice. Also a very nice reward for all my work, which keeps me quite busy. Choosing topics, writing, formatting and typesetting texts, selecting images, speaking the texts, putting them online, checking them, following them up, it's all grown into a veritable job. It is all the nicer when "one" gets a compliment from a distant country, a "nice", or a "thumbs up", these are indescribable moments. By the way, here on the website I have deactivated the comments, I don't want my words to be "falsified". Who does not agree by the way, just click away, there are countless websites, not only mine. I have become more aware of the power of words, the young man has touched me. In the meantime I have taken my (former) "political" texts offline, my word should only give a voice to the Buddha, nothing more. The way is the goal! Better than in a thousand songs, because words without meaning wasted, that is a word full of deep meaning, if it gives peace to the listener - Buddha - "The Enlightened One" - honorary name of Siddharta Gautama - 560 to 480 before the year zero Copyright: https://shaolin-rainer.de (Please also download my app "Buddha-Blog English" from the Apple and Android stores)
