Ana Rivas Logan is a Democratic candidate for Florida State Senate District 40 and the special election is being held today. District 40 covers all of Kendall, Richmond Heights, Perrine, and parts of Westchester. Miami Commissioner Francis Suarez sits as Vice Chair of Miami's Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) and helped push through last year's SMART Plan which includes light rail and train links. We discussed his reaction to Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez's stunning 180 reversal on commitment to expanding train access in a county with 2.6 million people and major traffic problems. Suarez is running for Mayor of Miami this year.
