The US Navy launches Operation Highjump - the largest Antarctic expedition in history. Admiral Byrd leads 4,700 men, 13 ships, and 33 aircraft to the most remote continent on Earth. The mission is supposed to last eight months. It's abandoned in eight weeks. Byrd never fully explains why.Rumour has it that Hitler fled to Antarctica, is that what Byrd and his men were looking for?Then there's the ice itself.
