The Braves and Cardinals wrap up their series tonight at Truist Park, with Hurston Waldrep making the start for Atlanta against St. Louis' Dustin May. Fans can enjoy a packed holiday weekend at the ballpark, including a free throwback cap giveaway, Krystal burger and watermelon eating contests, fireworks, a motorcycle stunt show, and a Drake Baldwin bobblehead giveaway. Atlanta defeated the Cardinals 5-1 Wednesday behind a strong outing from Reynaldo López and a shutdown bullpen. Ozzie Albies homered, Michael Harris II drove in a run and became a fan favorite with visiting England soccer supporters, and the Braves extended their division lead after Philadelphia's loss. The club also promoted infielder Jim Jarvis while designating Rowdy Tellez for assignment. Around baseball, Athletics prospect Ryan Lasko is recovering after emergency spinal surgery following a frightening collision in Double-A, while Yankees manager Aaron Boone blamed food poisoning after New York's loss to Detroit. At the FIFA World Cup, the United States advanced to the Round of 16 with a 2-0 victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina, but will be without leading scorer Folarin Balogun against Belgium after a controversial red card. Spain, Portugal, England, and other international teams also remained in the spotlight as World Cup excitement continues. The segment also touches on European visitors embracing American ranch dressing, humorous observations about Atlanta's World Cup atmosphere, and ESPN's Stephen A. Smith stirring controversy with comments about the Los Angeles Lakers' roster composition.
