If people are interested in learning more, they can contact me through my website: www.jankrawitz.com " Plus an update from Jan on the Drive-Ins featured in DRIVE-IN BLUES: "I-45 in Houston closed in February 1992 Gemini Theatre, Dallas I found some post-closed photos: It looks like the date was the late 80s so a few years after I filmed. http://www.cosmicool.com/driveins/gemini The story I forgot to tell about the Gemini is that on Monday nights ($1/car?) the lot would be overrun by teenagers. I think the lot size was about 1000 cars. Each HS would claim its own section of the lot on Monday nights so they knew where to park and meet their friends. The rest of the community knew to stay away on those nights as music from the cars would blare out of big speakers mounted on top of the cars (you can see that in my film) and nobody could hear the movie. Best Western Movie Manor in Monte Vista, CO is still in business. S and S Drive-in, Stamford, TX (the owner with the gimme hat) — says it closed in 1984 but we know that’s not true since I filmed there in 1985 - but it sounds like that might have been its last season. I filmed at a theater on Monahans, TX (one of the snack bar scenes and people arriving), but I don’t remember its name so can’t look it up.
