079. Autumn: Celebrating the Season & Bringing Nature Inside

from Elevating Motherhood · host Lori Beth Auldridge

We are deep into the beautiful season of Autumn. The days are flying by (sometimes) and other days drag on. But here we are, already at the end of October. Halloween is happening. Thanksgiving is almost upon us. Then winter and a whirlwind of holidays. I want to slow down and enjoy this time as much as I can. One way to do this is to bring nature inside, go outside more, and be willing to explore in nature not only despite the change in weather but because of the change in weather. This does not need to entail gigantic displays or complicated decorations that don’t work for the season of life you’re in (I’m looking at you toddler moms). FULL SHOW NOTES AVAILABLE AT: WWW.ELEVATINGMOTHERHOOD.COM  In this episode I talk about:  * Why we need to consider the seasons * Why we need to bring more nature indoors (and how!)  * Nature deficit disorder * The disconnect we feel on so many levels right now * A return to simple * Supporting our body's natural rhythms * What bringing nature inside and connecting with seasons looks like * Practical, easy ways to bring nature inside * Nature tables/displays * What to do outside * The importance of curiosity * Foraging vs. buying * DIY fall crafts and activities * Celebrating autumn with kids * Plant identification * Autumn poetry (I adore "Come Little Leaves" by George Cooper) * Connection with everything: yourself, your kids, nature, the seasons Please visit today's sponsors:  Blossom & Root: www.elevatingmotherhood.com/homeschool (CODE: LORIBETH10) Homeschool Explained: www.homeschoolexplained.com (CODE: LORIBETH50) Love the podcast?
