#082: Building A Life That Nourishes Your Soul

from LOVE IS FEARLESS

"We keep doing good...thinking it will make us good."  Those are the words written on an index card laying on the desk in our living room.   This one idea is the fundamental flaw that upends our cultural compass, sends us to bed both exhausted and sick, and keeps us in racial and religious bondage. In a culture of love, we're beginning to experience the power of a different reality.  Truth tells us we don't become good by doing good; rather, we become good because of what we trust and receive--in relationships. When we trust and receive: strength, we become strong. protection, we become protectors. safety in relationships, we become safe people in relationships. And, when we trust and receive: fear as a motivator, we become anxious. shame, we become afraid to fail. trivial pursuits, we live meaningless lives. Join us on this episode to find the hope LOVE offers for moving us out of the stress cycle that fear wants us stuck in. Linger in these TAKEAWAYS that remind us to nourish our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls: "Wellness is not a state of being.  It is not a state of mind.  It is a state of action.  The cure for burnout is not self-care.  It's all of us caring for each other." (A quote from Emily Nagoski.) A life of love happens when we choose the experiences, the food and drink, the risks and choices that love offers...instead of the experiences, the food and drink, the risks and choices that fear offers.  So many of the choices that fear offers have become false traditions--and addictions, and have, therefore built a culture of fear.  With collective intentionality, we can change the world and build a culture of love. In a culture of love, we can learn to ask ourselves:  "Do I really need more? Or do I need something different?"  We can learn to nourish our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls...with love.  We can love one another in these ways, too.
