#083 - Using Data Responsibly (w/ Byran Smucker)

from Unfeigned Christianity · host Asher Witmer

How can statistics demonstrate the attributes of God? What does it look like for Christians to engage data honestly? I thoroughly enjoyed my conversation with Byran Smucker on using data responsibly. Byran lives in Hamilton, OH (close to Cincinnati) with his wife, Amy, and their four children. He has a PhD in Statistics and Operations Research from Penn State and is an Associate Professor of Statistics at Miami University in Oxford, OH. In the expanded version, we spend an extra twenty minutes discussing what to do when data contradicts our beliefs. You can listen to it here. Mentioned in the episode is Byran's blog, The Bylog Redux. I recommend checking out his reflections on the book Jesus and John Wayne. If you'd like to check out the Dwell App, click here. Whether it's Judaism, Christianity, Islam, etc., there must be an absolute path to take since all religions are diametrically opposed to each other. Is it one God? Or many gods? Are all the names equating to the same spirit? Or is it all a mixed bag of confusion? Since God is not the author of confusion, this series will make it absolutely clear by unraveling the truth behind each and answering the hard questions.
