088: Favorite Obscure Thrash

from Metal Nerdery Podcast · host Metal Nerdery Podcast

“Among their own kind they live, a life that’s so obscure…” – DEATH. The thought of anything obscure with regard to Thrash immediately provokes thoughts of the Mall Days of Yore; a time before the existence of internet search engines, music streaming services or even social media bots to recommend bands or albums based on prior purchases.  A time when word of mouth within the Thrash community held sway over a metalhead’s purchasing power.        “Blurred visions, sanity obscure…” - BELIEVER So many hours spent, flipping through ALL of those records, tapes and CDs in the Metal sections of every record store, looking for that one band…that one album.  That one obscure, impossible to find recording you’ve only heard others talk about with the utmost reverence as if it were something sacred (because it was).  And then, as if guided by providence, you find it.  You can’t believe your luck.  There it is… JACKPOT!     Break out your old denim jacket (the one with all the patches on it), put on your favorite tattered concert tour shirt (it was black; it’s probably gray by now), phone in your order for Ron’s Special Srirachacybin shroom kabobs and JOIN US as we mosh our way down memory lane and revisit some of the greatest, most obscure thrash bands that you’ve likely never heard of but most definitely should have.  And if this is your first time hearing them, enjoy!
