09-08-2023 Breakfast Bites FIJI & PACIFIC SPORTS NEWS Podcast S06E39 #TeivovoSports #TeivovoDigital

Bula, Ma’lelei, Talofa and Welcome to Season 06 Episode 39 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika people’s sports news on a bright, warm and sunny Wednesday morning 09 August 2023.Coming to you with tons of hanisi from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. At the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 games yesterday: Colombia 1-0 Jamaica in Melbourne and France 4-0 Morocco in Adelaide. So in the quarterfinals: Spain vs Netherlands, Japan vs Sweden, Australia vs France and Colombia vs England. In Rugby: Fiji Water Flying Fijians Head Coach, Simon Raiwalui and his fellow national selectors have made a couple of brave choices in naming their Rugby World Cup 2023 squad yesterday; chief among them, dropping incumbent flyhalf Ben Volavola for the Fijian Drua duo of Caleb Muntz and Teti Tela.Sure Volavola has shown frustrating inconsistency in the past, but many fans thought Volvavola played his best ever game for Fiji against Japan last weekend, and maybe, just maybe he had hit his best form and finally matured into his full potential. Also the fact that Volavola plays his Club rugby in France for Racing 92 would count in his favour. But it didn’t.So time will tell if the far less experienced Tela and younger Muntz, will be able to handle the pressure of Test match rugby, heated up in the cauldron of a Rugby World Cup, especially in the key position of flyhalf where you have to convert your shots at goal at +80% success rate no less. The other player who could count himself lucky to be given a ticket to France is young fullback, Sireli Maqala. The Bayonne Club player was jittery and so so at best in his recent PNC games for Fiji. But Maqala just may be the perfect bait to entice opposition teams to kick at him in France and with the likes of Jiuta Wainiqolo, Waisea Nayacalevu, Iosefo Masi, Josua Tuisova, Selestino Ravutaumada and Semi Radradra licking their lips to counter attack, Maqala could be the perfect foil for Fiji.Apart from that, great to see so many Fijian Drua make the final RWC2023 squad. In rugby league: In the NRL tomorrow sees Manly vs the Panthers at 4 Pines Park at 7.50pm AEST. On Friday it’s Cronulla Sharks vs the Gold Coast Titans at PointsBet Stadium 6pm and the Broncos vs the Eels at The Gabba at 8pm.And in combat Sports: “I plan to Send him back to Mt Fuji with a f***ing headache,” all-action Aussie, Issac Hardman said of Japanese fighter Kazuki Kyohara for tonight’s middleweight clash in Sydney, with both fighters weighing in on the limit at 72.5Kg yesterday. And that’s a wrap! For TeivovoSports.com I’m Culden Kamea – please hit the like and subscribe buttons below if you want to receive more Pasifika sports highlights on Breakfast Bites.Mahalo, Kakite and tank you all too mas for all your love and support.#TEIVOVORugby #TEIVOVODigital #TeivovoRugby #TeivovoDigital #rugby #rugby7s #FijiRugby #rugbyunion #rugbyleague #Raka #team #rugbytraining #sports #FRU #Fiji #womensrugby #rugbygirls #wrugby #ladiesrugby #womeninsport #woman #rugby #rugby7s #FijiRugby #rugbyunion #rugbyleague #fitness #weightlifting #training #team #rugbytraining #sports #rakavi #DevelopmentFiji
