#09 - The Western Contrarium vs Eastern Non-Dualism | Michael Tsarion

In this provocative episode, host Matty and esoteric researcher Michael Tsarion critique the infiltration of Eastern non-dualism and New Age ideologies into Western thought, framing them as regressive traps promoting self-denial, escapism, and collectivism amid modernity's spiritual voids. Drawing on his article "Better Dead than Real," Tsarion champions Western contrarium—the dynamic tension of opposites—as essential to existence, truth (aletheia as unconcealing), telos (inherent purpose in nature), and authentic selfhood. He contrasts Aristotle's physus vs. techné, Heidegger's existential wonder, Hegelian dialectics, and Ayn Rand's rational selfishness against Eastern anatta and maya, warning of their psychological regression and elite manipulation. The discussion advocates reclaiming pre-Christian paganism as nature worship, individualism, self-sufficiency, and reconnection with ancestral roots to resist urban alienation, materialism, and control mechanisms. A staunch defense of Western metaphysical vitality over monistic dissolution.
