095: How Can You Create Transformational Experiences Without Going on Mission Trips? Interview with Alyssa Esparaz from Compassion Canada

from Volunteer Youth Worker Podcast

With so many mission trips, service projects, and ministry opportunities on hold, how are you able to create experiences for your teenagers that allow them to understand God’s heart for justice? How can they be taken out of their comfort zone while staying in their household bubble?   Alyssa and the team at Compassion have an idea to do just that. When they launched the True Story Curriculum (https://www.compassion.ca/curriculum/truestory/) they discovered that one of the things that teenagers were drawn to was the experiential challenge that came as part of each episode. So they have released these elements as the Identify With Poverty Challenge (http://youthworker.community/compassion).   For free.   For you.   Whether you are a point leader, volunteer leader, or overseeing multiple ministries, you’ll want your teenagers to take part in the Identify With Poverty Challenge.   Alyssa works in the role of Content and Communications Specialist at Compassion Canada, telling stories that inspire and equip the Church to live compassionate lifestyles. She can be found on Instagram or her blog, which she referenced in the episode.   Special thanks to this episode’s sponsor, Trinity Western University.
