#098 - Tay-Tay Today/NFT Lawsuit, Zappa’s Final US Concert, Music of 1998

We recorded this one early & quickly as Jay was off to the hospital for the scheduled delivery of his second baby (it’s a girl!!) Congrats to Jay & Ann! We look forward to getting the details next week, but in the meantime….It’s “News with Nick” Flagged as expected but gotta mention it…Taylor Swift announces her next re-recorded album, coming out in November, is “RED” & will contain 30 tracks in total.Possibly a first on the NFT front…Roc-A-Fella is suing Damon Dash over an NFT of Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt. The NFT has since been taken down but the Song: The Killers (feat Bruce Springsteen) - DustlandGreg brings us our album of the week and it is a hell of a ride! Zappa '88: The Last U.S. Show is a marvelous performance, spanning 2 discs (4 vinyl albums) & was released June 18th by the Zappa estate. It wasn’t the most prolific year, things are winding down for the decade and the genres and trends are bending yet again. Some early 90s bands release albums that could be categorized as ‘meh’ (Pearl Jam Yield, Smashing Pumpkins Adore); Kid Rock & Godsmack unfortunately release debut albums. Nick’s favorite Neutral Milk Hotel In the Aeroplane Over the Sea was released, which he insists is enough to salvage the year. Lastly, Jay’s idol Eric Clapton released Pilgram, his long awaited album of new original songs & Jay considers it one of his most disappointing first listens of his life…so, not the best year….but we find some silver linings… specifically this video of an early Rage Against the Machine gig, which wasn’t from 1998 (enjoy!).Song: Dave Matthews Band - Crush
