1:1 with Portland Sea Dogs pitcher Connelly Early
from To the Show Baseball Podcast · host Beyond the Monster
New Portland Sea Dogs pitcher Connelly Early sat down with Andrew Parker while the team was on the road in Harrisburg to play the Senators. Early talked about having no idea about pitching analytics while at the University of Virginia. The southpaw said he went out and just pitched each time he took the mound. “Before professional baseball, I had never really been into the analytical stuff,” Early said. “I couldn’t have even told you what any of my pitch shapes were. In college, I just went out there filling up the zone and attacked hitters with what I had, not knowing if it was great or not. In professional ball, you look at the Trackman every bullpen you throw.” He talks about utilizing TrackMan after every bullpen session, his time in Portland, and playing along with Kyle Teel and hoping to again in Boston.
