(Premier épisode) En 2008, Jean-Michel et Bernadette Bissonnet ont respectivement 60 et 58 ans et vivent dans une luxueuse maison à Castelnau-le-Lez, proche de Montpellier. Le 11 mai, le mari rentre chez lui après une réunion et il trouve Bernadette gisant dans une mare de sang. Jean-Michel constate que son épouse est morte et il appelle les gendarmes.Jean-Michel pense savoir qui a tué sa femme. Il explique aux enquêteurs avoir récemment eu un différend avec un homme : son jardinier, Méziane Belkacem. Ce dernier est convoqué par les gendarmes et reconnaît avoir tué Bernadette de deux coups de fusil.
