Fatima Karmadwala is member of the UKAPTB executive committee and member of the WHO Civil Society Task Force on TB.  She has been an advocate for Tuberculosis patients since being diagnosed with Multi-drug resistant tuberculosis in 2018 at the age of 20.  Due to her passion about making a difference and voicing her patient experience at multiple conferences and mentoring clients across the globe, she is currently studying a Masters at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine focusing on building a career around helping others with Tuberculosis. In this episode we are talking about her experience with having Multidrug-resistant TB (MDR TB): diagnosis, treatment, being in 50 day isolation, side effects, student life as MDR TB patient, post-TB life, financial challenges for tb patients, support systems etc.
