1 John #7 - Spirit of Truth

Spiritual claims can sound loving, impressive, and widely accepted while leading people away from God. John therefore commands Christians to test every spirit by the truth about Jesus Christ, who truly came as God in human flesh. His full divinity and humanity are essential to His saving death on the cross. The Holy Spirit helps God’s people resist error, while the apostles’ New Testament witness provides the standard for truth.
