#1 New Scoreboards - Special Guest: Mike O’Donnell | Erb + Young

from Be Extraordinary Podcast · host Erb and Young

🏀 Athletics ➡️ Business 👨‍💼 So many make this jump and it can be hard. Clearly, athletes have many known transferable skills to the business world but it can be challenging to put them into practice. WHO HAS STRUGGLED WITH THIS? 🙋🏻‍♂️ Spirt was so objective and gave constant immediate feedback. At the end of a drill, practice, or game you knew whether you won or lost. You knew what you had to work on or which team you had to beat, etc. When I first started my career as a professional I sought out a new scoreboard. I’ve been coached hard my whole life I craved that same tangible feedback that competition in athletics at a high level gave me. To say the least, the transition was uncomfortable for me. I’ve since reconnected with old friends and some who share a similar background on this very topic. Come to find out, it’s hard for a lot of people! Mike O’Donnell, a former teammate, mentor, and backcourt partner 🏀 of mine joined me in opening up in this conversation. Mike currently is the President of Harbinger Capital Management and College Basketball Analyst for ESPN/ CBS Sports. He had a heck of basketball career at NC State and ultimately UCF!
