Throughout 2020, maternity services were the one big health service that kept going, despite COVID-19.   Back in March, we launched the Maternity and Midwifery Hour, with a new episode every Wednesday, to provide midwives, student midwives and others in maternity care with an important update and connection every single week.   Each week we covered a wide range of topics - from COVID-19 to Sickle Cell, from Racial Disparity to Restoring Home births - with the podcast released each Friday.   In the first episode of Series 3, 7 pm, Wednesday 6 January, we’ll hear from maternity leaders who will not only look back at some of the challenges of 2020 but will also share their thoughts, ambitions and resolutions for maternity and midwifery services for the coming year.   As we start 2021, we would like to say a huge thank you to healthcare professionals for all that you have done in unprecedented times, working together to support women, babies and their families through the Covid-19 challenges. Thank you also to colleagues in education: teachers/lecturers who carried on adapting their materials and learning opportunities for students, supporting their students through challenging times and for those students who stepped up into practice.
