1 Peter 1

Peter's opening blessing emphasizes the living hope believers have through Christ's resurrection, which no earthly trial can destroy despite present suffering that tests and refines faith. His teaching that the prophets searched diligently to understand the sufferings and glories of Christ they predicted demonstrates how Old Testament revelation points forward to gospel fulfillment. The call to holiness based on God's holiness, combined with reverent fear during earthly sojourn, grounds Christian ethics in divine character rather than cultural accommodation.
