1 Peter 4 & 5
from Riverside Reading Plan Hosted by Riverside Church
Peter's teaching that suffering in the flesh ceases from sin and his call to love earnestly while exercising spiritual gifts demonstrate how persecution can purify believers while strengthening church community. His instructions for elders to shepherd willingly rather than for gain, along with calls for humility and resistance to the devil, emphasize faithful leadership during difficult times. The promise that the God of all grace will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish believers after brief suffering provides hope grounded in divine character rather than present circumstances.
