Rob Timmerman ontfermt zich als vrijwilliger over vluchtelingen in opvangkampen, maar ook op zee - waar hij als schipper op een reddingsboot mensen behoedt voor een verdrinkingsdood. Hij is inmiddels betrokken bij de redding van meer dan 3000 mensen. Op een dag in 2015, kwam zijn leven er plotseling heel anders uit te zien. Hij liep vast in zijn toenmalige werk als programmamaker én kreeg een burn-out. Over dat moment gaat Elsbeth Gruteke met hem in gesprek.
