De filosofie van VanEck is dat kwaliteit en goede service ook gepaard kunnen gaan met lage kosten. Martijn groeide op in Nijverdal, waarna hij in 1995 als Technisch Bedrijfskundige afstudeerde aan de Universiteit Twente. Hierna ging hij aan de slag als market maker bij Optiver, waar hij het tot partner schopte. Hier vertrok hij in 2003. Na een sabbatical, waarin Martijn psychologie studeerde aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, richtte hij in 2007 ThinkETF’s op, een aanbieder van ETFs. In 2018 werd Think overgenomen door VanEck, waar Martijn zijn huidige functie kreeg.
