In this video listen to 1 Samuel Chapter 24, read by David Alley, followed by comments and prayer.In 1 Samuel Chapter 24 David hides at En Gedi with the wild goats, and spares Saul’s life. These wild goats are actually Ibex that live at En Gedi. The En Gedi system is large enough and represents a mini ecosystem supporting even goats. En Gedi is a fabulous tourist location supporting a million visitors per year. While at En Gedi, Saul seeks him and while relieving himself in a cave, David has a chance to kill him, but saves him.That moment was predicted in a personal prophecy at some point prior. It’s a shame we don’t have a Psalm for this one. David was probably thinking and feeling many things. Here he overcomes temptation, because the death of Saul would have meant they were no longer fugitives and could return home. The personal prophecy could have come from Samuel who David knew or Gad, who was with David at some point, certainly when they were in Moab.This prophecy seemed to give a sense that God was fine with David killing Saul, but David does what seems good.... which is to not harm. David’s move is also beneficial in the future, winning the hearts of all Israel because he was a man of loyalty, wisdom, thought, slow to anger, love towards his enemy and much more. He represents a type of Christ.Warning: If you have ever received personal words or prophecies for your life, do not assume things based on them as to how things will happen, or that you can do whatever you want. You need to allow God to act, and to maintain righteousness in all things. The Lord’s anointed means the one God chose. If you consider that literally, it would be very dumb to go against somebody God chose, and David knew it. Christ is the ultimate ‘anointed one’ the Messiah.Today many people speak against the anointed one, and raise their hand against Him, a very foolish thing to do.
