"After David's great victory over the Amalekites, an unexpected question arises: Who receives the spoils?Rather than rewarding only those who fought, David generously shares the victory with all his men—even those too exhausted to enter the battle. He also sends gifts throughout Judah, demonstrating his enduring commitment to God's people despite the hardships and betrayals he had suffered.These actions are far more than examples of generosity. They foreshadow Jesus Christ.Christ fought the battle against sin, death, and Satan that we could never win ourselves. Through his death and resurrection, he conquered our enemies and now freely shares the blessings of his victory with his people. Our salvation, spiritual gifts, and eternal inheritance are all part of the spoils won by our victorious King.This sermon explores how David's gracious distribution of the spoil anticipates the grace of Christ, who conquered for us and now lavishes the riches of his triumph upon all who belong to him."
