1 Samuel Chapter 28:8-25
from Reading Through the Bible with Elder Linda Hosted by Linda Anderson
In this episode from 1 Samuel 28:8-25 we read about how Saul secretly went to a witch (medium) so he could talk to Samuel who had died. This Chapter continues to show us the results of not waiting on God and not obeying God. This for Saul is like the final straw. God told Saul to kill all the Amalekites-he did not.Saul got impatient and did not wait for Samuel the Priest to offer the sacrifice - Saul took Samuel’s job and offered the sacrifice himself. (This was not God’s will)Saul tried on numerous occasions to kill David whom God had anointed to be the next king.In this Chapter, Saul sinned by consulting with a witch, something God had forbidden (Deut 18:9-12).What can we learn from Saul? That disobedience to God has serious consequences. It costs Saul the kingdom and eventually his life.Even though we are living in a time of God’s grace, we don’t want to continue being disobedient when we know what God wants us to do. God is long suffering with us but there is coming a judgement day. We want to hear God say ‘well done’ to us on judgement day- not ‘depart from Me, I never knew you’. Let’s be obedient! Do whatever God puts on your heart to do. #christian #foryou #foryoupage #oldtestament #samuel #david #witch @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
