We are going to see in an undeniable way that Shaul, the king of Israel, was not a faithful man. Now this has been documented in many different ways throughout First Samuel, but now we're going to see how evil of a leader he is, that he has no faith, he does not rely upon God. He does not believe in Him. Rather, we are going to see that He engages in sorcery. Why? Because of fear.
