What other day, amen. Now that's real discipleship, if you didn't notice, Patrick and Charles, dress the same. The Lisa and Jamie dress the same kind of coordination. That's true discipleship.
They have their people dressing like, good morning, thanks. Or as Paul would probably say, good morning, men. About seven, are you okay? About seven, men, boys, I heard this morning, so I guess the rest of your ladies this morning.
Now listen, if you've been reading, who read First Timothy's chapter two this week? Okay, a few hands. Okay, that's the reason I got the response I got. Because if you read First Timothy, First Timothy chapter two, a man will respond very loudly.
Because Paul is talking to men. And very simply, he'll say, well, you know, Patrick Michael, I know what I'm saying, but for the summer, it's all great. Listen, this is how the church should be run. Chapter two talks about how the church should be run.
And he speaks to men. He's not anti-woman. He's pro-man, so if men leave the church, the way it's supposed to be led, the kingdom of God continues to grow. That's right.
Amen. I mean, this is important, man. And I'm speaking to men, this is very important, because I think so many times this chapter gets thrown into a place where, ooh, I don't want to deal with that scripture. I don't want to deal with these things.
So I want to avoid it. And that's exactly what the enemy would do to us, do to you, because very simply he said, man, wake up, you're the leaders. Why aren't you leading? I mean, it's just, I'm pausing, because it's a big deal in the kingdom of God.
It's a big deal for men. And there's so many men who've advocated their roles. Well, I'm supposed to be the head. Well, I'm the head woman, you do what I want you to do.
That's not headship, that's nonsense. Biblical headship leads the way where the man shows how to walk this thing out. That's what Paul's talking to. He's talking to men to lead the way.
And in our society, what's happened is this. Women said, nobody's leading. So they put the man along themselves and started leading. And then all the men complain, well, they're just bossy, they're just this, because there's no leader leading.
So they become bossy because they're looking for somebody to lead. Come on, first to me, two, one, two, four. Let's jump in. And you can tell this morning I'm really excited about Timothy.
I'm really excited about men in the church. And we're going to walk through all of this stuff and ladies, listen, I'm going to help overcome a very difficult passage of scripture. It's not very difficult, but we made it difficult. I think we made it difficult, so men could be jerks, rather than actually leading.
I urge then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, and intercession thanks given be made for all people, for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceably and quiet lives in all guileliness and holiness. This is good, and please, it's God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. I urge then, first of all, the first thing you should do, and listen, it's not necessarily a refer to time, but it's the importance in the worship service. The first thing the church service should do is pray.
And the first people who should pray should be the men. If you're a man leading your home, you should be the first one praying in your home. You're a life-doupling, your ministry head. You should be the first one praying in times of prayer.
Intercession, Sunday mornings, Monday mornings, the men should be leading, intercession. Yes, sir. I'm just trying to share scripture. I'm not trying to speak, now I'm just trying to share scripture right now.
Come on, we gotta get a hold of this, and I mean, God's, I mean, man, you gotta get a hold of this. What's your prayer life like? Few weeks ago, I talked about a house of prayer, but men, what's your prayer life like? What does your wife see you praying?
Now, how many times Becky's walked in in the shower, she's like, oh, I'm sorry, you're praying. I'm praying the spirit in the shower. I mean, just praying, it's like, oh, I'm sorry, I stepped into something. Come on, man.
Come on, man, listen, again, I'm gonna go after this morning. As Steve told me earlier, he said, I'm gonna put my helmet on my breastplate on early, because I know where you're going this morning. And that's where I'm going this morning. Because I'm going there, there's Paul's going there.
Amen? So there's like four different types of prayers. There's petitions, there's prayers of intercession, there's thanksgiving. Can I take something church?
This church does this thing biblically every Sunday morning before we come in here, before the worship team is really cranking it up for service, the intercessors have already prayed. They're in the large meeting room, say, well, I mean, I never knew that. They're in the large meeting room every Sunday morning ready to pray for the service. They are seeing, thank you, Deborah, thank you, team.
They're doing petitions, they're doing prayers, intercession, giving thanksgiving for what we're doing. And then somewhere in there, the first impressions ministry is coming in here, interceding for every single one of us. They lay hands on every single chair, praying for you before you even get here, praying for God to touch your heart before you even sit down. They're walking through this chair, it's not, okay, let's go through, you know, wrote, no, they are interceding for you and I as we sit here and go, God, touch their hearts.
And I'm sure they stop at the six seat in the front room, they pray really hard on that seat right there. Lord, you touch Pastor Michael, come on. Another one was that, I embrace that. I embrace people praying for me, because I know I need it when anybody else.
So let's just look at what a petition is. I mean, this is simple, it's simply asking for something. God, I don't even know what to ask, but God, I just, I mean, I need this or I need that. It's simple, it's simple petition.
God, bless so and so, God help me. Those are the prayers you pray when you're in your truck or your car, you're going out of road going, Lord, let this happen. But when you pray, James 1, 6, and 8 tells it this, but when you ask, you must believe and not doubt. Well, God, if it's your will, stop praying.
God, I'm not sure, but stop praying. Well, Lord, maybe it's gonna happen, stop praying. But when you pray, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
Such a person is double minded and unstable in all they do. Well, God, if it's your will, it sounds Christian-ese, but it's doubt ease, it's full of doubt. If it's your will, God knows his will, he's asking us just to ask. And if it's in his will, it's gonna come to pass.
And if it's not in his will, he's gonna direct us somewhere else to make sure that we get on the path. But what happens to me asking, we ask, we don't listen to what he's saying to us, which is basically what the word prayers means. It's a broad word referring to all communication from the Lord. Now, communication means this, if I talk to Mary Lou and all I do is talk, talk, talk, talk, it's a monologue.
There's no dialogue. If I say something to Mary Lou, I'm waiting for her to respond to me. All right, if I'm talking to God asking God, I'm asking God, I'm waiting for him to say something back to me. That's what prayer is.
Oh, I just thought I was going to give my grocery list to God. I gave my grocery list to God and I walk out and go, hey, I pray today. No, all you do is give God your grocery list. And in all reality, what you're doing is doing this.
You're saying God, you're doing everything wrong. God, if I was in charge, I would do this, this, this, this, and this. Ooh boy, God, come on, man. Intercession refers to requests we make on behalf of others.
How many times are you interceding for somebody else, praying for somebody else, asking God for somebody else, asking God to intervene? But you can't ask God to override their sovereignty. Every man gets to make his own choice. But you can ask God to touch their life so that God can turn their heart.
And the last one's Thanksgiving. Oh, what's the most powerful prayer you can give? I mean, it's our essential walk of Christ. It's gratitude.
Are you grateful? If somebody gives you a small thing, do you say thank you? Does it just roll off your mouth? Do you show gratitude to people?
People open the door, people say hello. I'm just grateful, thankful. Come on, man. And it's all men means all men.
And I always love young boys. Oh, I'm a man. Are you praying? I'm like, young man, are you praying?
The Bible says men pray. If you don't understand, it's one of your pastors, start up. And I'm stirred up because there's so much truth in this chapter. I mean, it's like, man, I spent hours and hours trying to decide what to take out of this message.
Not put in and take out of this message. Tertullian says this, we pray for all the emperors that God may grant them long life, a secure government, a prosperous family, vigorous troops, a faithful Senate, an obedient people, that the whole world may be in peace, and that God may grant both to Caesar and to every man, the accomplishment of their just desires. I'll never pray for Donald Trump. Pray for all men.
I would never pray for Joe Biden. Pray for all men. I would never pray for, then you're disobedient. You're unbiblical.
Oh, Pastor Michael, I mean, Joe Biden was awful. Yes. But if we had people interceding for him, God could turn his heart. Well, man, this is going on in my county, in a country.
And if we pray for them, God can turn their hearts. Oh, come on, church. Come on, man. This is important.
This is so important. And this is just very simple, first three verses of this passage, of this chapter. God's looking for men who will say, I'm the man. I'm the man who's going to stand up.
I'm the man who's going to live biblically. I'm the man who's going to lead my home. I'm the man who's going to lead in the church. I'm the man who's going to do what God's called me to do.
That's what God's looking for. But unfortunately, in America that we live in, God said, I'm here. Well, are you here? Come on, my wife brought me here.
My wife drove me here. Oh, not a Grace to Meanie Fellowship. I pray to God it's not a Grace to Meanie Fellowship. I pray to God it's not that.
But let's be honest, I'm looking, and God is looking for men who say, I'm ready. I'm ready to go. I got stirred up on my notes. I got stirred up here two weeks ago.
The American Revolution, we were talking about different things. The Black Robred Regiment. I've never put up a much of ever. But this is the first time I had to do that.
The Black Robred Regiment were the pastors in the American Revolution who preached a sermon basically geared towards who's going to fight. They took their Black Rob off. They went and they grabbed their gun and said, who's with me? And there were some men who went.
And there were others who stayed. Who, boy, your preaching this morning. That's OK. Let's go on.
Verse 4. And verse 4 is so important to me. Why say verse 4 is so important to you? Who wants all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth?
Last week I had somebody come to me after the first service and say, Pastor Michael, last week was just for me. I was just dealing with this issue of Calvinism with my child. I said, well, praise God. It's real simple.
Come next week and we'll talk about that. Verse 4. God wants who wants some people to be saved. To come to knowledge, go, hold on.
Stay with me. I don't say, again, we play as preachers and times it burns us. And we say, word some. And you go, no, it says the word.
Yeah, I got that. But if you really understand Calvinism, it doesn't even say the word some. It says the word, those God selects. Only people he selects.
So God says, I only love you. And I don't love any of you. Now, if you serve a God like that, that's not God. I don't know who that God is, but that's not God.
Because John 3 16 says what? For God's a love the world he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life. Whoever. I'm a whoever.
You're a whoever. People out there are whoever's. If they choose to believe, how about 2 Corinthians 5, 14, and 15? For Christ's love compels us because we are convinced that one died for all.
And therefore all died and he died for all. Now, those are two of the simplest ones I can come to. But I went and said, you know what? It's important for us not to me to have my own personal thoughts, my own personal beliefs.
I thought, you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to go find a Calvinist in their own words. This is a major theologian. This is not some offspring, somebody who's on the fringe.
This is dead center within Calvinism. Arthur Pink, and that's what he says. When we say that God is sovereign in the exercise of his love, what do you mean that he loves whom he chooses? God does not love everybody.
Teachers of this doctrine. Teachers of Calvinism. He's the main theologian within the movement. And he says, God does not love everybody.
And he's saying, why are you writing that down? Because Calvinism is creeping its ugly head just like Islam is across this country. And it's creeping its head into the church. Where people think that the God that we say we love is a God of hate.
Oh, he doesn't say he hates. God does not love everybody. If he doesn't love him, then what's the issue? Hate.
And church, we've got to get this. Because last week we became a song. He says, Pastor Michael, you said doctrine. And I had to go back and read our doctrine.
I understand what our doctrine was. And having to deal with the different conversations with different people, walking through different things. I'm trying to be a good pastor to us. And simply say, here's information you need to fight for good, fight of faith.
Well, man, Pastor Michael, that's like in First Timothy's chapter 2. Absolutely. Paul embeds it in there. Because it's the Sunday morning service.
You want to stop puddle for this chapter? It's Sunday morning service. Men, you should pray. That's what he says.
Men, you should pray. And men, you got to understand something. God loves you. God loves everybody.
And I found this as well. So the Calvinist says that the damn nation of the non-elect is the good pleasure of God's will. It's his will that we be damned. It's God's will that people not have eternal life.
That is sick and that is grotesque. And church, we've got to know this stuff. We've got to understand when it creeps in and when it creeps in, smash it like a bug with truth. Well, how do you do that, Pastor Michael?
Ezekiel 1823? I do not want wicked people to die. They're the all-body Lord. I went in a term from their evil ways and live.
Church like I just breaks my heart because the church sits and goes, yeah, I kind of know some of that stuff. But if we really knew that stuff and really, really got a hold of that stuff, we'll be doing more stuff. We'll be doing more stuff. Well, again, your neighbor may need you to pray for them to be healed.
Your neighbor just may need a kind word. Your spouse just may need gratitude. What's going to cost to save them? Who knows what that looks like?
Amen? And so what does Paul do next? He goes into a gospel presentation. Verse 22, 5-7, 4, there is one God and one in the native between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people.
This has now been witnessed to have a proper time. And for this purpose, I was appointed a herald and a apostle. I'm telling the truth. I am not lying.
A truth and faithful teacher of the Gentiles. There is one God. One Father called God. And let me say this, Church, we need to say that correctly.
There's one Father God. Why is one Father God important? Because there's the mush God, which means anything to anybody's room mushy. Oh, well, they believe in God.
Oh, stop. What God? Which God? Are we talking about Allah?
A Hindu God? Oh, I believe in God. Well, I said it last week. I'll say it again.
I'm going to say it again. Oh, we're going to simply this. This current movement within the different churches in America, say God's non-binary. That's crazy.
But here's the crazy part. Christians let it go. The crazy part is like, oh, yeah, well, God, well, it's God. No, no, Father God.
He is real clear on his pronouns. He is a he. He is real clear. He is Father.
That's a big deal. It's Father God. And that's how we need to reference it. Father God.
Because this whole mushy thing is so, oh, everybody believes in God. No, they don't. Come on, Church. I'm going to be a good pastor to you.
I'm going to make sure that you understand things like John 14, 6. Jesus answered, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes from the Father except through me. No other route.
No other route. I don't care what religion. I don't care what other thing. It's very simply Jesus is the only way.
No other way. Well, Pastor Michael, I was confirmed by who? Well, I was confirmed by this, Church. By who?
Did Jesus put the stamp on you? Because it's not Jesus and the Holy Spirit put the stamp on you, then man doesn't make a difference. Well, Pastor Michael, I went to six Bible studies. Great for you.
Those six Bible studies cause you to think different ways where everybody gets in. There was a whole fight about five years ago called Love Wins. Well, God loves so everybody gets in. Nobody goes to hell.
Then what do you do with John 14, 6? There's only one way there. And that's Jesus. Well, Pastor Michael, God so loving he would never see anybody.
He didn't see anybody hell. They chose to go. They rejected him so they chose to go. I'm Pastor Michael, I'm not too sure about it.
Come see me after service. Come see Craig. Come see Landon. Come see Douglas.
Some see one of the Patchers at Elders. Larry, we glad to help you understand what that looks like. I don't want to get bogged down there. So let's go to verse eight.
All right, here's the fun part. We're going to get all excited. We're all going to get all excited. We're all going to get all excited.
We're all going to go to the church. First, and then we're going to be too late. Therefore, I want them in everywhere to pray. Lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.
Here we are. Go. Here we are again, men. I want men to pray.
So what's the role of the man? Do pray. And you say, well, Pastor Michael, that's kind of obvious. He said that, yeah, but Paul is driving home a point.
What's he driving home a point? The point is this. There was a superstition within the Jewish community. I believe, ran itself into other religions today.
There was this belief that prayers could only happen in a synagogue. The only time you could pray was if you weren't a synagogue. And if you weren't a synagogue, then your prayers weren't heard. And so what do Christian people believe?
I can only pray when I'm in church. Or I should only pray when I'm in church. So then when they went home, they didn't pray. When they weren't small, they didn't pray.
They didn't pray. They didn't pray. They didn't pray. And if you weren't a synagogue, then your prayers weren't heard.
And so what do Christian people believe? I can only pray when I'm in church. Or I should only pray when I'm in church. So then when they went home, they didn't pray.
When they weren't small group, they didn't pray. When they were with their spouse, they didn't pray. Out in public. God, thank you, rub it up.
Thank you for this grub, amen. I don't pray out loud in public. I don't pray out in food. Come on.
And that's all that simply is. Is he's trying to get men to pray. Break that superstition. Well, my wife is better prayer than I am.
You know, why she's better prayer than you are? Because she prays. Well, I don't know how to pray. What?
Let me do this this way. When I was young, I didn't know how to walk. But I walk and I fail and I walk and I fail and I walk and I got up and one day I began to walk. And then one day I learned something called skipping and then one day I learned something called jogging.
And then they had this other thing called running. I'm not sure ever learned that. I'm a little too slow for running. Amen?
All right. Let's go over to Sonata. Here we go. Roll the women.
I also want the women to dress modestly with decency and propriety or donning themselves not with the labored hairstyles or goals. Or pearls or expensive clothes. But with good deeds appropriate for women who profess to worship God. And the first part, let's just get with the first thing.
Expensive clothing. Paul is not against expensive clothing. Well, the omniscient, the meninites and we were really modest. Paul is not anti-clothing.
What Paul is anti-in this situation was the women's attitude in when they came into the church. The gold in the pearls, they would break their hair and put gold beads or pearl beads in their hair and flaunt it to all the poor people in congregation. Well, I don't know how to say that. We got something new.
Beck and I were Budapest. We had to go to the second largest synagogue in the world. And I had never been in a synagogue. It was one of the wildest things I'd ever seen.
Because this section and this section were all men and the ladies were on the second and third floor. And I think, man, this is wild. This is actually true synagogue real deal. It's like the lady began to talk to us about what happened and all the men would sit here and the rabbi would preach and the women would sit in the second and third tier making business deals.
They were making real estate deals. And they were loud and ambunctious. If they weren't making real estate deals, here's what they were doing setting their children up. Oh, he's a fine man.
Oh, he would make a fine man for my daughter. Oh, which is a mother rat. They would go sit next to each other and they were loud and ambunctious. You know where I'm going here in a minute, ladies and gentlemen?
But let's stop for a second and look at this. The women to dress modestly. About 20 years ago. 20 years ago, I know where we can retire.
I won't say the place because you know the place, and people listen to me online, I can't say the place. We were in a church and I'm at that point, I was 30 years old. I went to my young years in here. 30 years old and I asked to preach at this church.
It's not in America but it's in overseas. I asked to preach at this church. And the first thing I do when I walk in the church is go, oh my gosh. And I'm starting to look at the ceiling.
Like what's wrong? I said, oh, and she's like, what? I said, just look, and you don't know exactly what I'm talking about. I saw more colored thongs in church than I had ever seen in my entire life.
I mean, it was like holy Toledo. And I'm like, man, live. And then it's like, wow, it's like you're not even trying to look. It's white pants and bright underwear.
And it's like white seat through tops and red bra. It's just like, oh my Jesus. So we could come back here and I can teach on modesty for the rest of our lives. And you can be the back of the church selling slips.
And we could retire over here, man. I'm just like, wow, what in the world? Anyone. Are you serious?
That's Becky. Absolutely. It's just like, wow, man. It's hard to preach when you're having to look at the ceiling up here.
Because you can't look out at anybody. The audience, because there's a husband running so a wife and it's like, oh my gosh. It's just like, wow, this is wild. This is what Paul's talking about.
Come on. We're providing moderation. All right, recently, this is a modest apparel. Let's see what that means.
What's this? Is it appropriate for the occasion? Well, we're teaching this in church on Sunday morning. Yeah, Paul had teaches in church on Sunday morning.
And this is 10,000 years ago. And we're still talking about this today. Is it overdressed or underdressed? Is it going to call inappropriate attention to myself?
Oh, Pastor Michael, we're OK, Grace. I mean, you may be OK here, but I'm teaching the whole council the whole word of God. I'm not skipping things just to skip those things. And that works for men and women.
Some guys have schmidians. That shirt is like, dude, put another shirt on. You're about to bust that thing. Well, I'm showing my muscles.
No, you're not. You're showing your rolls. I'm not going to pack. Is it going to call inappropriate attention to myself?
He's talking to ladies here, but come on, guys. Moderation asks, I love this. Is it moderate? Is it too much or too far, too little?
My girls like to watch Hallmark. And I said, my lord, what is the Hallmark budget for Red Lipsic? Those ladies, everyone is with ladies. They just have Red Lipsic.
It's like, wow. And they just painted on. Am I anti-lipsic? No.
Thank you, where's my girls? Where's my girls? I'm not anti those things. But I'm anti those things when they draw attention.
They're too much. It's like, wow. My question, we're talking to the choir this morning. I may be talking to the choir this morning, but some of the choir needs to help that choir behind them understand what's going on.
Moderation looks for a middle ground. Since I'm here, I'm going to go there. All right? So I'm here.
I'm just going to go there. I know the world we live in loves spandex. But spandex needs a little shade covering. Shirt down, shirt covering things.
You can't go into a restaurant anywhere without somebody in spandex clothing. Why are all these people looking at me? Hello. You're advertising everything under the sun.
People who aren't even trying to look. And it's like, holy cow. Well, sorry. Are you an antispantic?
No, not antispantic. Antispantic showing everything you have. That's designed for your husband, not for other men. Cover that.
And we're all good. That's moderation. Oh, Pastor Michael. Oh, yeah.
That's like I said, I'm going to go there anyway. Break it here. Well, see, Pastor Michael says, don't have braided hair. Falls like it's braided hair.
He's using braided hair to flaunt their money, their pearls, their gold. It's very simply as this. Paul is saying, ladies, just dress in moderation. Don't be old, ninnies.
Don't be out here GQ's sports literacy supermodels. Just be in moderation. Middle ground. Amen?
We got quite all of a sudden. See, now I've got the men saying amen, ladies are quiet. And earlier I was talking to the men, and me are quiet, and ladies are like, oh my gosh. Come on.
But I'm doing good works. What's it do? Just live a life that has good works. Do good things.
Live that way, dress properly. Just live the life the way God's called you to live. Amen? Here we go.
Verse 11. Here's the one I'm sure you're all going to wait on. A woman should learn in quietness, silence, and full submission. I did not bring a woman to teach or assume authority over a man.
That word man can also be translated husband. And here is what simply says, she must be quiet. For Adam was born first, and then Eve, and Adam was not the one deceived. It was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.
But one woman will be saved through childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with bright poetry. Very simply this. Women learn in silence. And this verse has caused so much trouble in the church.
It caused so many problems in the church. And here's what's so fascinating about this. If you stop and slow down, and know your word, and simply understand what Paul is saying, it's very simply this. The idea is without contention, not total silence.
And very simply what do you mean? I told you what I'm going to go out to the balconies. In the balconies, women used to yell down there, hey Andy, tell the rabbi, I disagree with him. Hey Andy, Monica, we never do that.
Monica, we never do that. It's not a clarifying, Monica before you. I see the other. But the lady in the second tier was like, Andy, tell the rabbi again, he's misinterpreted that.
Hey Andy, and now you have all these women asking questions. Let me pause right there. It seems like, oh, that's a problem there. There is a problem there, and Paul's talking about it at home, but there's something embedded in what Paul says that I think a lot of Christians miss.
The husband and wives should go home and talk about the message. You won't miss. You're sure? Oh, we never talk about the message.
Underneath the layer of the foundation, there should be a conversation about the message. Now, it's not roast the pastor message. It's what was preached there. Come on.
So the idea is without contention. Listen, if you look at the New Testament, and you get to stay with me here, it's more than just, you don't stay with me, you don't get lost, and you're going to say, well, pastor, Michael doesn't like women. Paul doesn't like women. That is not true.
Not true at all. And the best part is theologians have argued this for years. Absolute years. And Adam Clark's interpretation is where I'd probably land.
That's where I'm going to land this morning to share with you. I'm going to read some of this to you. It says, the context the Apostle Paul refers to here is asking questions and what we call dictating in the assemblies. It was permitted to any man to ask questions, to object, alter cake, attempt to refute in the synagogue, but the liberty was not allowed to any women.
And so here's the deal. In a Jewish synagogue in the church at that time, if you say, hey, I disagree with you. If my father-in' law David Allen's back goes, hey, I disagree with that. He could raise his hand or stand up and say, hey, Michael, hold on a minute.
That was part of the church service. They could stand up and argue the point, or argue the conversation. But again, it was a male down in society. And number two, they're up in the balcony.
So all he's simply saying is this, this is not that you can't speak. He's saying very simply, listen, we have chaos. If the ground floor is asking questions, everybody's saying questions, man, if you have a question, ask your husband. Saint Paul confirms this in reference also to the Christian Church.
He orders them to keep silent. And if they wish to learn anything, let them inquire their husbands at home. Because it was perfectly, it was perfectly endocorchorious for women to be continuing with men in public assemblies on points of doctrine, cases of conscience. Well, Pastor Michael, I hear that.
I see what Paul's saying. I think sometimes we don't, because we forget over in First Corinthians that Paul tells women to prophesy. So Paul didn't teach against himself, or the Holy Spirit, and get contrary statements. Paul doesn't teach one thing to the Corinthian Church, and another thing to the Ephesian Church.
Paul doesn't do that. The Holy Spirit will never do that. And why would God give us passages like Joel 2, 28? And afterwards, I will pour out my spirit on all people.
Your sons will prophesy your old men with dream dreams, your young men will see visions. That's not what he said. He says, your sons and daughters, why would Joel set women up? Why would the Holy Spirit set women up if they were sitting in silence the whole time?
Or when I asked 270, oh, Pastor Michael, that's Old Testament. OK, so let's argue New Testament. Acts 217, in the last day, God says, I will pour out my spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy.
Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. Again, Old Testament, New Testament. Both of them working together.
First Corinthians 11, 5. God tells us that women are going to prophesy. And then Paul comes and says, shh, inquire. That doesn't make any sense.
Joel tells us, Luke tells us in Acts. And Paul's not shutting that down. Paul's simply saying this, do it in the right order. What's the right order?
First Corinthians 11, 5. But everyone who prays or prophesies with her head uncover dishonors her head. It is the same with having her head shaved. Now there's some major points in there.
Head covered. What does that simply mean? That's an illustration of submission under headship to her husband or headship to the authority in the church. We got to get that.
OK? I'm going to come back to the second. Let me do something else. A shaved head meant several things.
A shaved woman's head who was shaved meant she was going to slavery. She was renouncing her title. Or she was being prostitution. So what Paul's saying here very simply, without being under authority, you're usurping the authority of the man, the husband of the home.
Well, I'm single. Well, guess what? You're under the authority of the church. Well, Pastor Michael, I got a problem.
I said, OK, let's do what your problem is. Well, Sally Sweeney's preached in this church. Becky Lemas has preached in this church. We've had other women teach at marriage works.
That's just unbiblical. No. Why is that? Sally Sweeney, under the headship of Lee Pastor at the time, Miles Sweeney.
Becky Lemas, under the headship and authority of Michael Lemas, the pastor of this church, the elders of this church. Both of those women who've taught all the women who teach on marriage works are under the authority of the house leadership. That's house authority, house leadership. Well, I just don't believe women should teach men.
Then you've got a problem with Joel, Luke, Paul, Holy Spirit, Jesus, and Father God. Just the name of six. Just the name of six. I just know what we can deal with.
And say, well, I don't know about all that, Pastor Michael. Well, sorry. That's the problem. The problem is bad interpretation, bad understanding, and no biblical knowledge.
Well, man, Pastor, this is strong. Listen, it's got to be strong. Why is that? Because Paul is talking to men.
And men need things strong sometimes. But we've talked to men so wimply. Is that a word, wimply? It is now Donald Trump here, wimply.
It's wimply. We've talked to men like women for so long that we've become accustomed to that. Now when a strong man stands up, we come in fold, and they get upset. Oh, Pastor Michael, you're upset me this morning.
Good. I hope I come against you. I hope it makes you a little stirred up. Amen?
Oh, Pastor Michael, what does full submission mean? All it certainly means is to be under rank. Who's ahead of the church? God.
Who's ahead of the high God, Jesus. The Holy Spirit, Father God, Jesus, Holy Spirit. They're in charge. And you said, I like the great new fellowship.
Well, who's ahead of the great new fellowship? Michael Lemas. With the elders, Landon, Larry, Craig, and Brian. They say, well, I like that submission, so I'll be under that authority.
So guess what? Ladies, if you have a prophetic word, come on down. You've got to prayer. Come on down.
Join the intercessors. Join the different things. You know what? I mean, it's just like, come on, God, of what we're doing here.
But be in full submission. We've left the tradition of head coverings. But the head covering is your husband. And we talked about this in pre-mural counseling.
The importance of covenant. The how the husband is the head. And if you're a single lady in here, well, I am the fact though your head, because you're single. If you're a widow, the exact same thing.
And part of my job is to make sure we take care of you. That's why we hired Sam to make sure pastoral care gets taken care of. So we make sure the single ladies, the widows, get taken care of, they have a headship. Michael, you made that sound very simple.
It wasn't that difficult to understand that passage of scripture. Yes. But you know what people do? They take those passages and they grind them and try to make women feel inferior, because it makes them feel more superior.
I'm not going to do that. Let's talk scripture. It's just real clean, real simple. Paul was trying to clean up problems in the church.
Paul was trying to get the church to get back in line. That's why subtitle this section of chapter two of, specifically Sunday mornings. Men should pray. There's only one God.
There's only one way to God that is Jesus. Ladies, dress modestly. Dress without trying to have a fashion show. There are whole denominations where ladies come in on a Sunday morning, it's a fashion show.
I got my hat, I got my dread, I got my Sundays on baby. And they walk in like me, I can you do it, I can you try to walk that way. No, I can't try. But just simple.
And again, simple is difficult sometimes, because we go very simply, I know this for a fact, because I've got two girls and a wife, going shopping sometimes is like, oh my gosh. Everyone, I was young and I'd have girls who would go shopping with Becky, it's like, wow, go find something. She's on trying. Too low cut, too tight, too high rise, too dis, too bad.
We used to go to late Jackson to the brad of small, because they had a lot more conservative clothing. Now, can you go there? And it's like, wow, Paul's doing an issue way back then in 60s, and here we are in 2026 dealing with the same issues. And he's just, live that way.
And ladies, Paul's saying, come on, don't be contentious. Don't cause problems. That's it. And then very simply, God is time to pray.
