Brokenness (vv. 1-2) Will the people be broken or not? Pagan King (v. 1) Broken Covenant (v. 2) Pattern (vv. 3-4) Will the pattern be broken or not? Hope (v. 3) Have the people returned?  Application: God is not satisfied with religious motions. Application: God does not demand of us that which is in our power to perform. Application: Repentance’s turning from sin and turning to God because of the beauty of God and the ugliness of sin. History (v. 4) Perseverance (vv. 5-6) Will the people persist in returning to God or not? Gone (v. 5) Vindication (v. 6a) Repentance (v. 6b)
