(http://www.michaelsheiser.com/mshheadshot.jpg)Mike Heiser earned the M.A. and Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible and Semitic Languages at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004.  Before attending the UW-Madison, Mike earned an M.A. in Ancient History from the University of Pennsylvania (major fields: Ancient Israel and Egyptology).  Mike was hired as the Academic Editor of Logos Bible Software (http://www.logos.com/) shortly after completing his Ph.D. Before joining Logos, Mike spent twelve years teaching biblical studies, history, and biblical languages on the undergraduate level.(http://www.michaelsheiser.com/memrasmall.jpg)Mike’s main research interests are Israelite religion (especially Israel’s divine council (http://www.thedivinecouncil.com/)), biblical theology, ancient Near Eastern religion, biblical & ancient Semitic languages, and ancient Jewish binitarian monotheism. His dissertation (http://www.michaelsheiser.com/ResearchPDFs.html) was entitled, "The Divine Council in Late Canonical and Non-Canonical Second Temple Jewish Literature.”  The dissertation sought to discern the ancient Israelite background to Judaism's "Two Powers in Heaven (http://www.twopowersinheaven.com/)" godhead teaching. Mike blogs regularly on biblical studies at The Naked Bible (http://www.nakedbibleonline.com/). Mike teaches courses to the public in Old Testament, biblical theology, Israelite religion, ancient languages, the Book of Enoch, and ancient Israel, Mesopotamia, and Egypt at his online institute, MEMRA (http://www.memrau.com/).(http://www.michaelsheiser.com/bookCover_alone.jpg)Mike's other academic interests include the paranormal and the occult. He is particularly interested in how both shape worldviews and how people marry biblical and ancient Near Eastern material to these areas. He is best known for his critique of the ancient astronaut theories (http://www.sitchiniswrong.com/) of Zecharia Sitchin and his paranormal thriller, The Facade (http://www.facadethebook.com/), which intertwines many of his interests.
