Welcome to No Fals, just a clap. I am Deb, and the gentleman sitting next to me is the one who taught me to take car bombs like a champ. He's Doug. Hello.
So you and I actually did not have a hugely eventful week other than work type things, but we have a lot to talk about. We actually, I should say, I finally went and saw a Pacific Rim, which I've been anticipating for like, F. And it was freaking awesome. I agree.
It was great. Like I said, the people, it didn't change my life, but it was everything I wanted to be. It's not bad as robots punching giant monsters in the face. Like I said, it was exactly what it felt like it was going to be.
Thank you, Neil Arturo. That was awesome. Before we continue, I did write down big spoiler alerts that we'll be talking about Pacific Rim and Monsters University. So just a heads up.
Yeah. What great spoiler have is it is simply because spoilers don't ruin my enjoyment of something. And I tend to see everything as it comes out. Yeah, which is fine, which I think that's one of the reasons why we get along so well.
He finally got a Regal Club card. Like, finally. Oh, you know what? Extra funny, I went and saw a Pacific Rim with a friend.
And I totally did the thing. I got tickets first and bought his ticket. He's like, I fucking hate it. He was so pissed.
I bought his ticket. No, I bought his ticket. Why is he mad? It's just one of those things where I didn't ask him.
I just kind of did it. He's like, I think that I did. Yeah, fucking nice people. You know, I just forget his prosperity.
He didn't say thank you. Like I said, I think it's because he's a gentleman and he's also the oldest. He might see it as a little bit of a slight to him. Yeah, slight against the shovel rear that he would take care of people.
I can see that. Well, it's just like I said, now we went solid. And it was awesome. And of course, by being me, there's the part in Pacific Rim where one of the characters is looking at the other one after he takes his shirt off and kind of hinting at the attraction between the two.
And I think over. I'm in love with Charlie Day. Oh. No, I was going to say.
You know what? I'm like, I miss the long hairs and the tattoo. So it's obviously Charlie Hunt and whatever. I don't like something like that.
You're supposed to pronounce it. I got from Sons of Anarchy. Like, see, I want to jacks from Sons of Anarchy to be in a giant robot fighting monsters. I didn't know who he was.
I don't want Sons of Anarchy. I want Sons of Anarchy. It's like I did the gap in my pop culture knowledge. I can't land you season one because it's like to have to somebody else.
But I will. I love Sons of Anarchy. I love those vacant. Are they?
Sorry. Is that how they say it in the South? I like that. Sounds like Earnarchy.
Like I said, I love Sons of Anarchy. I like that it's vaguely based on a family. Unfortunately, same friend that I went and saw the movie with, kind of ruined it for me right around season three when he pointed out a few flaws in the plot line. One of which being, why don't you just fucking leave?
All these problems would go away. And two, why is it neonatal, so which it, you don't really need to make that much money? What? People watch Sons of Anarchy.
It makes sense. I don't know. You should. I'm not like Hardh Oregon said.
I just have it. It's so far in the back. What about this? I'm going to try and get my season one back, and then we'll talk about it.
However, back to Pacific Rim. Awesome. Yeah. I mean, it was one I talk to people about it.
Oh, no. I was going to say I put up selling it to everybody. I say it exactly. It's giant robots fighting monsters.
If you go in with that mentality, you're going to enjoy the fuck out of it. It's not so epic, it'll change your life. But it is so enjoyable. And it's one of those where, two things where, one, you, you admit a joke about how before it came out, you go, oh, it's Del Toro doing Transformers.
Am I issue? A Del Toro doing Transformers, and it doesn't make me hate him. Why would you hate Del Toro anyway? I think anybody did the Transformer films.
The first one wasn't that bad. My issue, back to this, my issue with the first one was that it was, since I throw about three robots, and it was so busy that you couldn't tell who was punching who or what was going on. There was that scene where Megatron rips, jazz in half. And I was only watching the movie in theaters and I'm like, who the fuck did he just rip in half?
OK, I have actually two problems with the first Transformers. One, don't just say an umbrella, Michael Bay. I was going to say something about robot lips, but I'll keep it myself. Like they should accept speakers?
Well, didn't he have a little vented visor? Ooh, Optimus Prime. Yeah. He didn't have lips in the cartoon.
Didn't he have a vented mouthpiece? Yeah, which he like donned in battle. Anyways, I didn't like that he had lips. And too, dude, he had magic glasses.
That's a little bit too close to Mormonism for me to ever take it, even vaguely seriously. He had magic glasses. Oh, yeah, they totally chucked the glasses, didn't they? Like I said, he had magic glasses.
Are you fucking kidding me? Are you fucking kidding me? Now they pulled the chucking, put the internet in his glasses. Like I said, it's not too much like Mormonism for me.
Because you know, after the angel Moroni, that's right. Moroni came down and put down the book of Mormon and he couldn't read it, got gave him magic glasses. To go with their magic underwear. Special underwear.
It's not magic underwear. What's magic if not special? Hell no, every watchbird wonders stone. That wasn't very special, we're very magic.
Oh, it was special, all right. Yeah, I loved Pacific Rim. It was cleaner. I mean, it was beautiful.
I mean, that opening scene with who? I love that that's the name of the brothers. Fancy and Raleigh? Yeah.
Are those streets in New York or what? No, I have no idea why that. No, I was going to make it. Why you like that?
No, I just thought they were just very bizarre names. Well, give him all the Torah doesn't speak English extremely well. You probably didn't want to stick with Jim and John. I'm sorry, the only time I've ever heard the name Nancy used was in Futurama.
And that's for I's older brother. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, like I said, I've never actually even in books.
I was going to say never heard the name Nancy used other than in Futurama and now I'm just a friend. And spoiler alert, like in both, Nancy's dead. Yes, oh, no. No, but that opening scene of what does it call like the gypsy danger?
I think it's called gypsy danger, yes. Yeah, when it comes out the rain and they're doing the test of the like the. I was going to say the hand of the fist. Yeah, it was what was it like mind sink?
Mind cloud, what was it called? Handshake. There we go. Neural handshake.
There's something very William Gibson. Like it was. But when they do that and the rain comes off of it, I was just like, oh, yeah, no, I'm sitting there. Like, I was just one of those where like del Toro was usually given that huge budget in a lot of his movies.
Elboy 2, really? I had a smaller budget than I went to the room. Elboy 2, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, sorry. Would you know what we should actually talk about?
This is a finished, specific ramp. And I'll put Elboy 2 on the whiteboard. You can throw the golden army on there. Yeah, because I want to say a few things.
OK. But and this is my second point for when I said I had two. I'm not saying he's done independent pictures. That's obviously not true.
He actually did. Well, no, yeah, he did. He's a major. But you know what I mean.
Let me finish. Wait for it. But no, what? Yeah, you don't remember my catchphrase when we first ever started talking about this?
Sorry. Yeah. It's land water. But no, he, you know, the budgets for hands of labyrinth, Elboy, even Elboy 2, were nowhere near Pacific ramp.
And the thing is he took those modest, we'll say modest budgets. Are we going to agree on that? I'm not going to say modest. I'm going to say reasonable.
Oh, OK. But he took those reasonable budgets and made it look like something that would cost double the amount, triple the amount. I mean, you could probably agree on that on just Elboy. And even specifically in Elboy 2, that was at the troll market.
Yeah, that looked expensive. Yeah, and probably wasn't as expensive as we thought. And so we way over estimated on Southland tales. Mostly because I was so angry at it, I assumed it was expensive.
It's weird that you hate something so much, you assume it's expensive. Yes, Elysium. We'll talk about that. But in the fact that he was given a big budget and made it look spectacular and kind of pulled a John Sweden where, yeah, it was about the spectacle of it with obviously giant robots, giant monsters, designation, knife head, totally shit.
I love that line. And knife head rips that shit up. I was rooting for it. The minute Tore-off that things on, I'm like, fuck you, I'm on the monster side because I want to see this thing.
Fuck shit off. It was pointed out to me, which I actually noticed throughout the entire film. How do they know what to call it knife head when they don't even know what it looks like? When they're looking at their corner foot.
No, because they have similar traits. Charlie Day's character talks about that. They have similar traits, because they're being cloned or whatever. They're being tranched.
They know that when they come out of the corner, when they come out of the wormhole rift breach area. What do you mean they don't know that? They don't know what they look like. Before it breaches?
Not before, but when it's breached, they have that alarm that says, oh, hey, there's. Yeah, but I mean, if you look at it on the screen, it's just a random print down. We don't see the other computers. OK, you're going to write this off with other computers we didn't see.
Well, you only ever see two screens of Batman looking at it in a bat cave. You don't see everything else. And I'm sure they have some kind of video capture equipment. I mean, it's not even the US military.
It's the world military. They have to have some kind of like surveillance. I'll be nothing. I wanted to talk about it.
OK, so when we're watching the film, they've decided to kind of scrap the Eager program. Yeah. I want to hear what the pitch was for the quote unquote life wall. OK, guys.
So we're going to put up a big wall along all the coastlines. That's made of concrete, rebar, and prayers. Like I said, we're going to put up this wall. Dude, it's a big fucking fence.
That works so well between US and Mexico. They worked against the Mongols. So we're going to put up this wall. I would love to see some.
Well, you knew how fucking monsters went terribly. I want to see some billionaire construction developer trying to pitch this to the United Nations. OK, so what we need is a wall. A big wall.
I know. I'm sorry. The life wall? The name told you that it was basically got collapsed.
Well, they keep talking about how they have the clock. It's like, tastes, days since incident. And I was going to say, and then they have the scientist that is mathematically tracking when he thinks the next event. So what I'm saying is, when you meet the main character, Raleigh, the parts of the wall are being built.
That doesn't make any sense. You'd have a very strict timeline on the wall being built because you'd only have an X amount of time. And it's like, I think that was explained away. And they were saying that it was just a theoretical when the next monster activity may happen.
Until British, like, whining scientists. Like, it was just theoretical. They hadn't necessarily accepted it as a fact. They just had a time of sense incident on work.
Yeah, that was a theoretical timeline. You may want to move your backpack because John Doris, I hit. OK. I meant that he will claw it and knock it down on the floor.
Sorry, my dick bag, cat is being a dick bag. Move dick bag. But yeah, no, I found it. It was exactly what I wanted it to be.
And it was kind of like a we didn't ask thing where. It was very, very epic and spectacle, but it was still just about the people that haven't been there. I mean, some of the character beats were hilarious and cliche. I told you about this.
And I don't know if you noticed this line. I can't remember the conversation we had about it that well. But there's a line that you hear out of a back speaker where you just hear the line. We can do it together.
I was just like, oh, Jesus fuck, not that line. And even though I didn't see it spoken just hearing, it almost took me out of the movie where I was like, and I'm out. There were parts of the movie that actually made me laugh pretty hard. I'm so glad that they almost directly quoted it independently about the aliens on the other side and then being colonists.
But still. I'm so glad they didn't kiss at the end. That would have been so fucking retarded. It would have been so horrible.
I haven't complained about the end. She thinks he's dead. He's not breathing. She can't find heartbeat.
I'm sorry. CPR isn't an option here. I know. They would know that.
And they're like, well, maybe the sensors are off. And it's like, OK, but to quote Jim Jeffers, push, push, blow, blow. Yeah, why wouldn't you try CPR? Or bang on his chest in motion.
Oh, Janice, live. Yeah, why wouldn't you? Come back to me. Like I said, I just don't understand why that didn't seem to occur to her.
I don't know. Yeah, I mean, yeah, yeah. At least it didn't kiss. It was a quiet, tender moment at the end.
Like, did you wait for after the credits? Of course I did. You know why? Because the wrong performance is awesome.
And I always wait for after the credits. And you know he was going to come back. I expected that to happen during the movie. And I was like, oh, of course I'd be the post-credits scene of him cutting himself out of the fucking baby.
Oh my god, did you have that moment? Actually, I had that moment where I thought about Godzilla. And they're like, just pregnant. Oh god.
Yeah, I was like, fuck. I honestly was like, if that happens now, I'm going to, like, I'm done. Like, this movie is going to suck. I don't care what anyone else says.
It could be epic after that. Wouldn't have cared. I'd have been like, yeah, the minute it was like, it's pregnant. And it's like, oh god, damn it.
Where's Hank Azaria in that? Actually, I was thinking, oh, yeah. I was going to say, where's Matthew Broder? Yeah.
What? Yeah. It was like, no. Hellboy's going to kill it.
And you're like, oh, OK. Like I said, I thought it was going to cause this. I actually really loved the Capra that. He's like, one minute looking at it.
I totally knew it wouldn't live. I'd wrap around its neck. Long son to develop. I'll beat you.
Yeah, but it's just one of the total stereotypical bad ass move. I knew this was going to happen. And then you're going to tell him. You know, it's the only second movie he's been in by Del Toro.
Actually, it's across it. It's a lot in his movies. I mean, that and Chronos are the only two. Next line.
What? What? What did you say? I didn't say anything about Max Lin's.
About Max Lin's. Max Lin is. Max Lin does. Max Lin.
He's not in Chronicle. I know. But I wanted to be. Maybe he'll be in Chronicle too.
Oh, yeah. What are you going to go with that? Not that I don't have utter faith in Max Lin. Just re-listing to that nerd episode.
I'm like, I will watch whatever you put out. I'm done. I love Death of Superman. I thought that thing was fucking hilarious.
It pisses me off that I didn't do it before him. because I'm pretty sure I've gotten in drunken rants about comp plotlines and it was one of the- You're pretty sure? Okay, I'm 100% sure I probably did it last week. That would be difficult.
True, but I mean the fact that I've gotten into- Rants? We'll be charitable and passionate. Arguments about Star Trek, I know I've gotten into fucking- Yeah, like drunken rants about comp plotlines and one of those where I'm like, what, and I just- I mean this is pre-YouTube, it's like why wouldn't I- someone just take that and put it on YouTube? Yeah, not that I would have been the next Max Landis but- Fair enough.
Hellboy too. So- Yeah, it's easy to see what you say about this one. Why are we trying- are we just gonna skip over the fact that the- the lead bad guy, the villain in this, looked like a combination of a character from a Cradle of Filth video and Separoth? Separoth and Dark hair though, why do you keep going back to white hair with Separoth?
Or does he have white hair in- Yes, he has white hair in- I've been children. Does he? Ah, that's why he does. Thank you.
Really? Really talk? Really? I'm just letting put out advent children because the ending of Final Fantasy VII was like kind of a let down after the buildup of Death of Eris.
Mm-hm. Which being a witch, I totally rewatch the Rekka-Ralph and I just love that in the background. There's the graffiti in the Grand Game Central Station and one of it is Arath Lives. Yeah.
Along with the Leroy Jenkins and- He's actually- Leroy Jenkins! And there's one other one- Shenlan's Street Fighter joke is in there. Anyway. But yeah, no, there's a few things I totally make Hellboy for me despite the styling of the character.
One, where the kid should face not to Cottie and sing and can't smile without you. It's known as the other Barry Matalo scene. Like a lot of them were talking about that when it came out- Right before it came out. It's hilarious.
The whole my body's the temple of the potty-high-fives in amusement park line. It was and Doug Jones was- Got to use his own voice. Yeah. Yeah, Doug Jones.
Oh, he's on falling skies. I'm a big fan of Doug Jones. I have a lot of falling skies, yeah. It's walking down with aliens.
I said you've been watching a lot lately. Well, it's just one of those things I'm not- Except that Walking Dead is like not afraid to fucking kill- Character. Main characters, yeah, where- Everyone goes, will it mean they're gonna kill Rick? I'm like, yeah, but if you read the comics, you know Rick goes through some shit.
Yeah. And they're putting them through the- I mean, you think they're putting them through the paces now? No. Go and read the- Yeah, if you go read the comics, like spoiler alert.
I'll say that accurately. But, um, what because, you know, the fourth- What is it? The fourth season of the show is coming out this fall? I think so.
Um, I'm not really up on my Walking Dead simply because I read the comics, so it seems like- Yeah, but you know, I mean- When he comes out of the prison- Oh yeah. Everybody dies in the prison, except for what Rick and Carl, and what is it? Rick loses a hand, and Carl gets fucking messed up, like, psychologically. And he's talking about- What was I listening to when he was talking about him losing a hand?
And then being like, that was such a stunting thing for them, because I mean, how do you button a shirt without a freaking hand? Like, it would take you twice as long. I- I'm wearing a button up, let's see. Yes, this is three-podcasting, though.
This is the- Yeah, this is the- Time button- Time button- I'm sure I'll curse eventually. I can't do it. I'm also using my left hand up, well, I guess it wouldn't matter. I mean, I can't choose which hand I'm going to lose to the governor.
You're still struggling with it. I am still struggling. Oh, no, I almost got it. But like I said, they're talking about that.
You don't- Yeah, that was one button, folks, in case you're- I should have been looking at the time, but yeah, that's gonna be about a good 10 seconds. 10 seconds. 15. No way.
Okay, fair enough. Other things I'm excited about this week. Do you and I both just today watched the new trailer for the Veronica Mars movie? Yes, we did.
Awesome. I've also been reading the casting news updates, and Jerry O'Connell cast as the new sheriff, Liam. Adam Lamb's brother. Lamb died, didn't he?
Yeah, that's why they don't have Liam back. Lamb died. If you remember correctly, he was shot by the Dean's wife's former husband? No, the Dean's wife's lover.
No, I swear to God, I swear to God, I was her ex-husband. No, it wasn't the- No, it was the Comology Professor, wasn't it? No, no. Lamb died, I was gonna say- Lamb God, I believe killed by her ex- husband's because he was all amped up on meth in her house.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, it was- Yeah, you're right, it was the ex-husband. You're right, I completely forgot about him. That's been a while.
Yeah. You guys go back and re-watch my Veronica Mars. However, I'm very- I was gonna say very happy with the new trailer that they put out. I was gonna say they're teasing a lot of interesting things.
I'm sad she doesn't work for the FBI and that she's a lawyer. However, that makes sense in the plot line they're following that she hasn't played detective since she caused her dad the sheriff's ship, so to speak, in one of the last episodes that they shot from TV show. Right. Because I'm sad that she's not working for the FBI because I think she would be awesome.
No, that should be good at picking juries and stuff. I mean- Well, that makes sense that she'd be a lawyer because it's once again her kind of playing into the excitement of something and outsmarting people. Yeah, yeah. Also- They're trying to figure out a puzzle, trying to figure out a case.
I mean, I can see- You can extrapolate the personality to that. Also, oh my god, Kristen Bell looks so good for having a child. Very short period of time ago. Well, yeah, but all these celebrity trainers and stuff can do that.
I mean- But still- Look at Beyoncé. I hate your little bit right now. What? She slimmed up to the point where they thought the baby was fake.
Still, like I said, very impressed with Kristen Bell and at least she's always been pretty slender. But yeah, for looking as good as she does, very shortly after having a child. What did they name it? Lincoln.
That's a little girl named Lincoln. That's a little girl named Lincoln. Lincoln Shepherd? That's nice.
Well, I believe her and that Shepherd are actually now going to get married very shortly. Yeah, I got rid of Domo. Yeah, exactly. I was going to say- So also this week, things that are awesome.
My little boy Batman underpants came in the mail. Thank you, Amazon. So now both of us have Batman underwear. Yep, about the same size.
Yeah, child bearing hips. I got a child bearing hips. You know, I figured out that's how you can walk like a yiggers by using your hips instead of your knees. Actually, that makes sense.
Nah- Yeah, I was thinking about that. I also like how labored it looks when they're inside the yiggers in the apparatus, walking. No, you know, they built the inside of the head as a set. And they put it on like, rape so that when they're being like punched by knife head.
Does that remember any of the other designations of the fit and knife head? Because some of them were not, they were Japanese. It's not anything you could easily remember. Right.
Oh my god, it's got you. Well, that's what they're called. Sorry. Yeah, so like when you're seeing them react to being punched, that's actually happening.
But yeah, like how they actually did look labored. Like they were having to work pretty hard to make this robot move. Which makes them complete sense. Well, yeah, and like you think about like how they have to like train to like fight.
Because you get into the fight between the Australian guy and the main character. And it's like, they have these like fighting styles. And you're like, they would have different fights. Like they would have different fighting styles because the Australian yiggers faster.
Yeah. So that was the only put box five or the generation five or four? I think five was the highest they went. It was the last five maybe.
It was the fastest yigger ever. Yeah. I think you- All of them are digital. Not all of them.
Not all of them. Yeah. Yours has got a beta max. Way to be proud.
Jesus yeah, it's like- I totally loved it though. I completely brought it to their world so to speak. Well, it's just like that was the only time they mentioned that it was- Like there was no mention of that it was analog. Like that was- it seemed like such a left field thing.
It was just like- Yeah. Yeah. They were just like all the original. Not this one.
Well, where did that come from? That never gets mentioned before. Actually it does. It's the opposite.
It's the opposite of the autopilot from Dark Knight Raises. Where that's mentioned like nine million times. Like they didn't telegraph that move though. In Pacific Rim.
Yeah. I do like they didn't telegraph that move. Because there's so many movies where they make some one-line mention of something. And you're like, I know what's happening later.
That's going to- It's the beam in the locket from Jack and the Giant's Eye. I'm like, well that's going to come in to play later. Better pay attention. Like- Like I said, it's one of those things where I like they didn't telegraph that move.
Yeah. But still. Yeah. Oh, go ahead.
No, I was going to say that was something else that we both watched recently. Okay. Monsterton University. Yes.
I was not impressed. Neither was I. It was fun but I mean it wasn't smart like the original one was. And that's- I told other people that movie and I said this one didn't have the- Now, Disney picks out any like dreamworks all over.
They figured out and it's been years since they've done this. But they figured out, hey wait a minute, they're adults taking their kids. Let's make jokes for the adults or little side gags that- And the first- In my mind the first Disney movie I did that was Disney's Atlantis. Which I still speak- I don't think I'm actually- Well I will ever- I will always be highly- Oh, it was- Not only was it- It comes to me the first one that had the adult humor as well.
The voice acting was fine at all. Really, really. You're going to tell me that there weren't adult gags in Aladdin with- Robin Williams doing the genie. You were foolish at- There's so many adult gags with Robin Williams, genie Aladdin.
There were- Well okay, no there were- When he does like Peter Lorry, and you're like- And he- Yeah, he does so many gags that kids would never get. Okay. I'll- Yeah, no you don't write- But it wasn't- I- Yeah, no I'm not- I'm not flubbering because I'm suddenly wrong. But I am.
No, but that was so much more like slapsticky where- It was, I'll give you that. So it wasn't as varied- Yeah, it wasn't as subtle. Yes. Um, Like that's storyboarding, but like character designs, set pieces, were comp- artist Jeff Darrow, who I'm a big fan of, and Mike McNuller, who did Hellboy.
Yeah. So which- If you rewatch or watch- Excuse me, Atlantis. You could- There's- It's pretty obvious on the McNull art. I mean- I think you ended that.
Oh, but just the shape of the characters, the block shadows, or block shading, which I- I'm a huge fan of- McNullers- Arts always have always been- always will be. He's one of the people that I idolized when I was writing and drawing comics. Um, look where that got me. Just goes to show you how well I draw.
Um, well, I guess, plastic, fly-forable, the crane-up, it's not as adorable. Um, my friends often told me that I drew one of the funniest coloring books I'd ever seen. Um, yeah. It was funny.
Not well-drawn, but it was funny. Um, But yeah, no, monsters- Yeah, no, thank you. Like I said, it wasn't nearly as smart as the first one- I was listening. So it's like, it was okay background noise, but god, I probably would've been dying if I had to watch that- It's weird because- We'll tie this back.
Who was one of the voices in Monsters- You? That we've already talked about today? Could be Chris- No. Charlie Day.
Right, Charlie Day's? Hey, monsters too. What- Mostly? He was the monster that was like the U-shaped- Oh, the legs?
Yeah. They have the leg warmers on him for their- Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, yeah. I don't know why they might have been a Charlie Day.
Maybe because the movie didn't make much of an impression on me. They're gorgeous, they'll think about it. Um, when I'm watching it, I'll just look at the IMDB cast just so I know who to listen for. Like, who were the voices of the two heads?
One of them was Dave Foley, and I'm spacing the other one. Oh, Sean Hayes. Yeah, like I said, it was okay. That's about all I can say for it.
It wasn't. I wouldn't have recommended it. I don't hate myself for watching it. It was one of those- I had a choice in that came out in theaters.
I had a choice to see that or World War Z. And it was just, yeah, it was just like, well, do you want to punch in the face or punch in the dick? Like, there was no good answer. Or no good result was going to kind of me saying, you know, one of them.
I'm extremely glad I went and saw Pacific Rim instead of this pickle me too. So- It's- And what's- It's the same thing the monster's- You as this pickle me too, is that it's good, but it doesn't have that edge that the first- the first- me hat. And then it's going to be- The Minions movie comes out. Well, and that's- Well, I think- I think the minion movie is going to be closer to the despicable me in terms of tone, because it's going to be them.
I think they're- They've been around for like, I guess, since Don of Time. And is their backstory- Why haven't watched any of the- each railers or cheesers for the minion movie? Well, apparently they've been around for like, whatever, years. And they figure out that their whole point in life is to help supervillains.
Like, they're supposed to be minions. And I think they go out and they, like, audition to become like minions. But they're auditioning for different supervillains. I want to say Tina Fey is the voice, but that's not right.
This is Carson Wickbackler. No, oh no, this is like- The minion movie's going to be a prequel. And I want to say it's Tina Fey, but I don't think that's right. As the voice of the supervillain they team up with, or they end up being employed by it.
Is it wrong that I love every time that you kind of get to see the backside of like a supervillain collective? Like, you know, the auditioning to get in or- I was going to say the supervillains that don't quite make it. I mean, I love that. The Venture Brothers, I love that in Dr.
Worble Singalong blog. You know, the heroes in Mystery Men. Like I said, I love the scene, the backside of the, you know, the supervillains of the supervillains of the supervillains just aren't quite awesome at all. You know, like- Dane Cook is the love for it.
Yeah, what was- Okay, what's the name of the character in Dr. Worble Singalong blog that like makes things wet or moistens them or- I think I just call them moist. Is it just moist? No.
Do you- Do you- Damn bender made wet- Oh, what is his name? Yeah, no, it's going to pot me now. Yeah. You know, immediately after this, you're going to put that TBD in.
I'm- I've never seen a commentary. So- A commentary of the musical? Yeah. Crap.
I know what the rest of our afternoon looks like now. Yeah. Yeah. Um- However, this actually leads nicely into something else I wanted to talk about.
The latest episode of The Venture Brothers, which was fucking sweet. I told you, I was like, you were- Like, this is very dead, bro. This is very dry. I just go love this.
Yeah. Them being the super hero nightclub, trying to get a bionic man set up on a date with a fake robot. It just really goes through a hut. So they can try and pump information about the Council of 13, and who their actual identities are.
It- Just the nightclub seems alone. I was like, where- We watched it independently of each other. And I was like, yeah, they just call- Hold on. They call us in Helperk's character Moist.
It's just Moist? He's just Moist. He's- His evil-moist your buddy. But like I said, I love that the gag in- in Dr.
Worble's single-long blog is him auditioning to be in the evil-leak of evil. Well, but you- Oh, and you like that? You like the- You like the guild of climate- It's intense stuff. I love the guild of climate- It's intense stuff.
Especially the video that Dr. Orpheus gets. Not about why you should join the guild of climate- It's intense stuff. I like that they cover their mouths and it's like, we have chosen you, Dr.
Orpheus. I love that gag. Okay, so I love that gag, but I also love- I love it's just all the reasons why you should join a supervillain collective so they can monitor your threat level or inappropriate behavior, which that clip alone, which is what the guy chained down and one of the council of 13, like rubbing his chest and making an appropriate gesture at him. What?
Yeah, why you joined the guild of climate- It's intense because they'll monitor your appropriate threat level and inappropriate behavior. Oh, that's right. Yeah, and it's the guy getting off. I forgot about that.
It's so wrong. You're like, oh god, why? That's right. Yeah, but then they put the monarch versus Dr.
Manatee or whatever it is. He's like, I'm the gentle seak. I'll bam, he shoots him in the head. Oh, the Manatee.
Tears of a sea cow, I believe is the name of that episode. I'm pretty sure you're right. Or why are sea cows for it? They say tears of a sea cow and that immediately just takes him back to the gym, gaffigan joke.
I'm the Manatee. Ah, sea cow. Ah, sea cow. By the way, the voice of Scarlet, the supervillain that's going to be in the minions movie is voiced by Central Bullock.
I don't know how I got Tina Fey out of that. I think I'm still stuck on Mega Mind. As I've been for like three weeks. Yes, no, I know we talked about the Venture Brothers a lot.
I think we might actually change the name of the podcast. It's Devin Doug Reminis about Venture Brothers episode. Go to your own club. He realized that sounds like a pretension agency for how to re-up.
Except for the club is Chlamydia. Is it Chlamydia? It is Chlamydia. Oh well.
How to re-up Chlamydia. It's one of those uncomfortable ones you can get treated. It's one of those ones that wouldn't make a good girl's name. It's not a good chlamydia joke.
It's not important. Sorry. That's from waiting. Is it?
Yeah. Chlamydia. It's really pretty name. What do you name a daughter Chlamydia?
Although if you go for the Terry Pratchett joke about naming your children horrible things, she'd probably be awesome and keep it in her pants a great deal. No, I don't want to fuck her. Well, it's just like they say if you name a girl Chastity she's going to be a little bit... That was louder than usual.
Sorry. No, it's fine. But like I said, if you name a girl Chastity she's going to be a little bit promiscuous. Terry Pratchett has a joke about a family of boys.
And the only one that's coming to mind now is bestiality. And they're also supposed to be like super awesome and nice and shiverless. Yeah. So if you name a girl Chlamydia she'd probably be very chaste and awesome.
Well, then you know the name of the girl I lost my virginity to? No, I don't remember that. I handed God, Charity Hope Ball. No, I thought bullshit.
True. I'm sorry, do you still know this girl? No, she dumped me for a older gentleman she worked with at RVs. Which sounds pathetic now.
That's the saddest thing I've ever heard. Oh yeah. His name was Chris. Like I'll remember that she's till the day I die.
Okay. Yeah. And she held off breaking up with me because she was cheating on me around my birthday. And she didn't want to ruin my birthday.
You know, I'm sorry. I don't believe my name was Charity Hope Ball. You don't have to look her up on Facebook and get her to send you a picture for R&D. Charity Hope Ball?
Yeah. I got friends that knew her. I mean. No, I need to see a picture of her ID or her certificate.
I don't believe. Her name is Charity Hope Ball. Who hates their kid that much? Her mom?
That's terrible. Admittedly, I once knew a girl named... It was her last name. Her last name was Rowdy Bush.
But still. Youch. But I had, there was a girl in high school with named Tiffany Trapp who her dad wanted to name her Raimo. Ooh.
Yeah. Rainbow Trapp. I did tell you that I'd, like I said, I went to high school with a pair of brothers named Calla Allen's Rowl. She doesn't make any sense but...
