10. A Growing Movement - Acts 21:1-36 - Committed

from Mitchell Berean Church - Podcast · host Ben Phillips

This has been a heavy week. I think of my good friend Colleen Howard and her recent passing, and I cannot help but be full of joy and conviction. Joy at the fact that we have a home prepared for us in Heaven by a Savior who was willing to stay committed, whatever the cost, to the mission He was on. Joy that Colleen knew Jesus well, walked with Him in life, and now knows Him in greater ways than I can understand. Conviction because of the example set by Colleen and many others who have lived lives committed to Christ and His Cause. I think of my own walk and desire a deeper commitment, connection, and purpose to drive me. The Apostle Paul was one of these people, and as we look at Acts 21 we can see his unwavering commitment to Christ, His Cause, His Church, and His Cross. The surpassing value of knowing Christ drove Paul to be willing to lose everything and take hold of the treasure of Jesus. This weekend, my prayer is that we as a church can take steps towards this same heart. Committing ourselves more fully to the One who has given all for our sake. Praise God for Jesus! Praise Him for His forgiveness and grace! Praise Him for His promises we can stand firmly on! Praise Him for the truth of the Gospel, and the hope we have! Let that be the cry of our hearts, echoing the “great cloud of witnesses” who have led by example with lives that truly proclaim “to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Join us this weekend for one of our worship services at 8am or 11am. Cannot wait to connect with you MBC Family! -Pastor Ben Key Verse - Acts 21:13 - Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” For Scripture, notes, upcoming events, & more: http://bible.com/events/49387596
